hello everyone,
i ordered a m-43 last saturday morning from ny and received it monday morning. couldn't believe it as i was expecting delivery sometime later this week. thanks bill for the super fast delivery. my heart was pounding as i was opening the triangular package and in it was a beatifully crafted horn handled m-43 made by sher. the blade was massive and it felt just right holding it in my hands.
i cut my thumb as i was admiring it when the knife slipped out of its scabbard so i had to wait till yesterday to put my kukri to the test. i started out by chopping some dead/dry branches into firewood that had been in my yard for some time since the winter storm. the thickest of them were about five inches in diameter. when the dust settled i checked the edge and there were no damages to the edge whatsoever. only just some superficial scratches in the side of the blade.
i am amazed by how such a knife can outchop any of the axes that i have in my garage. so much performance despite its small package... this is my first kukri and i wonder what a more chopping oriented ak can do.
however i found the fit and finish of the knife to be just a little under my standards. but i still feel its great value considering its price. i am inclined to pay two or even three times the money for a user integral bolster kukri that had a better fit and finish.
