I got my Millie yesterday, and I'm loving it so much, sharp blade out of the box, pretty good lock up about 50%, I'd much prefer an earlier lockup...
But when I use my flash light to see the locking surface, I've noticed that the contact surface of the blade tang and the lockbar is no narrow. No, I'm not talking about the thickness of the lock bar, but the width of the contacting surface, just about 1mm. Is it normal on my millie? Is there any problem? I NEVER flick my knife open, and NEVER wack it to test it, I use it properly, so far the lock up hasn't change. But I'm worrying about the locking surface area, if it's too narrow, it'll wear quickly. Thanks for any input

All liner locks are like that more or less. Otherwise I think there would be vertical bladeplay or lockrock as some people call it. Anyway, the Military lock has longevity as user reports show. So don't worry about it. If you wear out the lock, Spyderco will replace it.

I flick the crap out of my Millies and haven't had any trouble with the locks. My work Millie has been used hard and flicked open for years and hasn't developed any lock problems. Don't worry about babying the Military. On he Millies I have had the lock moves a little in the first month or so as it breaks in and then holds that position for a long time. You can expect to get years and years of service from the knife.
