Been lurking around for awhile -- I like to do outdoors stuff and was in need of a new camping/outdoors knife. I just got my F1 in the mail. I am beyond pleased for the price -- I settled on it based on a bunch of discussions here -- I never woulda found it otherwise. Thanks all for the thoughtfull reviews/tests/commentary.

Just got my S1 today after a long wait. I've known that VG10 is a fine steel [Shun kitchen knives] and that's why I got the S1 .Very well made , should work well !!!

Love my F1, particularly with the Concealex sheath Normark made for it. Makes an ideal companion set.

great knife , you'll love it. Get a Normark sheath and you'll be good to go. I use mine mostly to skin deer during hunting season and it works really well.

my F1 - a great knife!

a F1 with tapered tang and curly birch wood handles - my dream (bushcraft) knife.

Great good-looking knife.

Only negative I have with Scandi knives is their lack of bigger blade guards. The darn things are so scary sharp that one slip of the fingers into the blade (easy to do while working blind inside an animal cavity when gutting and cleaning) and you are off to the ER for at minimum a bunch of stitches and the little accideent could easily lead to the hand surgeon for major surgery.

It is very cold where the Scandis use their knives and they probably have big gloves on which protech their hands. That's not always the case where we hunt in the US.

The F-1 is one of the many knives I have acquired as a direct result of reviews and recommendations here. It has to be one of the best values available in a knife in this category, IMHO. While many a purchase has resulted from my visits here, the F-1 stands out as one of the more "memorable finds" I was made aware of through my visits. The addition of a on/scene sheath (also a result of BF) completed this great "package".

There is no better source in cyberspace for the wealth of information available for anyone interested in knives than you will find right here. The only downside to hanging out here is finding the knife you never knew existed, and of course you now "just have to have"! Yes, I'm one of the many that have been "bitten" by my many visits here!

DGG,

No gloves, no knives, when you have yet seen one of yours fingers bones!

Heh, I will be carefull using it. I touched up the factory edge with a black hard arkansas stone last night followed by a piece of leather... it is freakishly sharp compared to any other knife I've had. I am taking a trip in a few weeks, looking forward to using it... I will check out the aftermarks sheaths rec'd above -- got it with the full leather sheath as that was the cheapest option... As a side note, I should've thanked the forum for my penknife rec as well -- got myself a spyderco kiwi awhile back onsale due to recs I read here...

You made a good choice! For those who want more protection for their hands, the F1GM with green micarta handle VG-10 laminated blade AND a stainless steel finger guard.

Here is what your future hold for you....:
I have 3 F1's, an A1, A2, WM1,G1,Mod.P, 2 U2's,and I think my wife's knife is a White Whale or Blue Whale or something like that...she loves it with the lamiated VG-10 blade.

Better start saving your money because you won't be satisfied with only one!

Ciao
