Man those guys I bought my new roof from came yesterday and unloaded materials, and came by this morning at 8 am and were done my 50 x 35 shop roof by 4 pm. It looks good too! Of course its never going to rain again now! :D

Seriosly it will be nice to not have to rush to put the buckets out in places to catch the drops for the next down pour to protect my equipment and all. Now I can just listen to it smackin' the new tin roof and relax finally. Only draw back is I guess I'll have to fill my dipping pales with water from the hose from now on. I think I can live with that though.

Oh they'll be up tomorrow. I want to get some digitals of it in some sun. It is bitter cold and overcast today and by the time they cleaned up and we settled for the remainder plus went over to discuss where to move the left over sheets and stuff it was already too dark. Believe me I'm very happy with it and plan to show it off some. They went above and beyond for me.

It was kind of interesting to see the quotes for what you can have done if in my shoes. We had an old metal building that has been the shop here for as long as the house has been here. Its the whole reason we bought this place. The shop used to be a body shop for the guy that worked on cars and owned it way back. Over the years the roof swayed and I fixed that by jacking the roof back up and walling it in to create mine and my wife's shops. Of course mine for knife making and hers for stripping furniture and doing her crafts and wood working. Anyway, the first guy wanted 5000 bucks to spray on this foam or some such composite material!

Well, that was enough kick in the pants to get me on the roof. I wasn't spending that period! Then we had this other guy come over and he suggested just slatting the metal roof on there now and putting a new one right over it. I liked the idea, it saved me about $1500 plus to do that its probably going to live longer than I will which is fine with me. :D

It was kind of funny I guess. He asked me what I wanted in the way of color and and all these things like metal thickness and all that when we looked through the brochure. He was telling me about the benefits of this one and this one and all that.

I told him hell man it can be pink for all I care. I've been on that roof so many times tarring the crap out of it to seal leaks in the old metal roof that is like 75 years old that what I want is to never get on that roof again! I told him find something they can't sell or even a dinged dented one for cheap and stick it up there. If it doesn't leak I'm happy!

Now I just need to wait on the rain! I'm gonna run out there when it starts just to let it put me to sleep listening to it next time all the while with a big smile on my face daring it to leak on me now! :p

I'm not sure what color you would call it. Its not really silver. It looks kind of beige I guess. It could have a big add on the thing I don't care so long as I'm dry when it rains and not having to cover equipment or move it to save it from water damage! I am shocked they got it knocked out in one day but they sure did. Did a great job too.

One of those guys, not sure which one but one of em actually removed a vine that has been a terror for the wife and I and I mean a terror. This is the worst poison ivy vine this side of the Mississippi. I could not believe it was gone and I mean gone. They cleaned that thing right out and cut it down to the ground. My wife was out there pouring root killer and some other things to finish the job too. I am grateful its gone but I feel for the guy if he did that not knowing. I called and warned the owner. I've been scared to get near that thing for years.

I have seen some people with some really nasty reactions to poison ivy. My cousin was put in the hospital because his legs were severly swollen from the rash it caused. It was probably one of the worst things I have seen. It looked like 3 degree burns all down his legs. Most of my family is severly allerigic to it. I am 100% sure i cannot get it. I usually pull it right out of the ground and i have never had an adverse reaction to it. maybe thats why im am allergic to so many other plants.

Yep. Been there. A couple summers ago I had a run in with it and my wrists swelled up so bad it put me in the ER and shut down my shop. It may as well be a fire breathing dragon far as I'm concerned.

Its no wonder they use that as a base ingredient for chemical warfare. Its some nasty stuff! I knew this kid when I was in school in my teens. He bragged about how he didn't get poison ivy. My friend, Dale, dared him to roll in it with his shirt off if he didn't get it and the kid did. Man he was in the hospital for that for a week or more shortly after that. Bet he doesn't brag on that immunity now! I hate the stuff personally. Its one of those things for me where I just have breath the stuff and I start to break out. Hate it!

Is your roof from tin ?I can just remember back home in my country where almost all the older houses had tin roofs and when it rained, the rain pelting on the tin was music to my ears. Glad to to hear you got new covers.

I call them tin roofs. I guess the old one on there is galvanized. Its in good repair for strength, and not on bit of corrosion but it just leaked at the seams everywhere. Got to be a royal pain.

Hope these show it's color ok. Its hard to get good pics of a big roof to do it justice. Its also hard to find a spot to show all of it without being so far away it doesn't really seem worth taking a pic of it. Its a big building. The small roof for the porch area I did years ago. I have enough left over to do that over and deal was I'd do that part myself but it will be this spring I think.

Anyway, here are some shots of it day after its done.

Hi Steve,
We had a metal roof on the old farm house. You can't beat a metal roof, in my book. When this roof goes, we're going back to metal. Hope you guys had a good week-end. Later.

As I used to say at my old job whenever they did improvements, "Dang! There's one less excuse now."

Looks great, Steve!
