Shucks, gotta work all day Saturday and Sunday is Father's Day. I will have to wait til next week.

Nice setup. I looked at an LTR a few years ago, but I'm just not that big a fan of the "tactical" bolt action rifles. A little heavy unless you're shooting 300wm or something of the like where a 9-10lb rifle is nice. You're making me miss my rifles back home 120 dollars to ship 2 up here  Then 25 for an FFL to take them, but that's for all of them so not a bad deal. I figure I'm gonna spend over a grand shipping them up here and that's after I bring some up as carry-on luggage. What does the LTR weigh alone 8lbs? Whole setup must be sitting in at around 11-12? Kind of like my "lightweight" m4 that must weigh around 10lbs. I may yet convince myself I need the T3 Tactical in 300. How do you like the Mark 4? There was a shop in dayton that had a 3-9 mark 4 on a savage .308 and it was only 600 for the combo, I almost bought it just for the scope. Kicking myself for not doing it, but my vxIII is still kicking along great. Oh yeah and get some pictures please!!!

I never thought much of the tactical bolt rifle, either, until a couple yrs ago. I've always liked composite stocks on hunting rifles. It's certainly more durable/stable, although not nearly as aesthetic, as wood. And, of course, the parkerized finish is good for hunting also.

I started looking at tactical bolt rifle set-ups and thought they were some of the most versatile and practical rifles around. I then became a full convert based on what I saw and what I read.

The LTR weighs about 7.5 lbs naked. With the 13oz scope and the rings/mount and the bipod, it comes in at about 9 1/3 lbs. Not too bad.

Don't forget, although the LTR has a heavy barrel, it is only 20" long and it is fluted.

So far the Mark 4 appears to be pretty nice. Excellent clarity, and nice target knobs under the covers.

I couldn't find this scope new for less than $489.99, so for the whole package to be only $600 isn't bad. However, the Mil-dot reticle is an extra $90. The duplex comes in at $399.99. Still a good deal. Savages are very accurate.

If I get access to a digital I'll try to take pics.

Regards.
