My Rogers Rangers spike hawk and Next Gen spike hawk arrived today. Am I impressed! The Next Generation spike hawk isn't like anything else I've ever seen. Its in a class of its own. It came razor sharp and I immediately took it out back and worked it hard on a dry, HARD, 4x4 piece of lumber that that has been baking under our hot Southern California sun for a couple of years. It tore it up in no time. The edge remained extremely sharp when I finally tired out. A couple of passes with a ceramic rod and the edge was back to its original sharpness. All of that pounding didn't affect the handle, or the head at all. The head was as tight as when I took it out of the box. I don't know exactly how its done, but you can tell that nothing is going to loosen the head on this hawk. I wasn't sure if I'd like the longer 16" handle because I'm used to the shorter Viet Nam hawk. But I like it a lot. You can get a huge amount of force into your swing by holding it on the lower end of the handle. The grip is extremely secure and there's no slipping at all. This is a beautiful hawk and I feel lucky to have gotten in on the beginning of its production.

Thanks ANDY! The Rogers Rangers spike hawk is awesome too! It was totally worth the wait!!!

I hope that mine come soon, I'm starting to have "Hawk Withdrawls" or heaven forbid that dreaded "Hawk Envy".

Did you expect anything less than great from Andy.

No way. I knew that He'd meet, and probably exceed, my expectations. And I was right. Hope yours come soon. I know the feeling!

Got Mine late yesterday evening. Boy, I am glad,I had to disappear into the bedroom to open my package of surprises. As usual with Andy, my expectations were met. Great Product and now I can drool over them in person.

Thanks Andy,

:D :D :D

Even with the help :( of the US Post, Andy managed to get my Next Gen to me today. :D

That is a great hawk - anybody looking to buy a user should take a serious look at this hawk! If you get the chance to play with one take it!!

Regards,

Ed

I ordered a Next Gen. and a RR spike hawk. I intended to use the spike hawk for really hard use, and keep the Next Gen around the house as a weapon, for light use, and just to fondle (Its so sweet looking!). When the hawks came I was amazed that the Next Gen seemed indestructible. Anyway, I took it out to the Mojave desert this last weekend. It performed perfectly. I made a large fire out of very hard desert ironwood. This kind of wood normally plays real havoc with my large knives. I chopped, pried, and split a lot of wood, using the cutting edge and the spike. The spike comes in handy for a lot of things, like dragging large branches etc. On a couple of wild swings I hit the wood with the upper part of the handle. It didn't affect the handle at all. Not even a mark! The same treatment would have damaged a wooden handle, if not cracked it. The head is still as tight as the first day I got it. When I got home I cleaned it up and it looks great. The edge was still sharp but a few strokes of a ceramic rod brought it back to scary sharp. This is going to be my hard use hawk from now on.

Can't remember when I've been happier with anything I've bought.
Thanks again Andy!!

You guys have NO IDEA how this thread makes my production staff and me feel.....GREAT is a word that does not adequately describe it.

Jon...thank you SO much for your post.
