I got my Natural Outlaw-E and my Paul's Hatchet today. (Apparently the Pepper Shaker is shipping separately, after all.)

First, I was surprised to see that the Natural Outlaw-E came with gray micarta scales (instead of beige), and a brown sheath (instead of black). I didn't know such options were available. I think I like the NO colors a bit better, but the other way is just fine, too.

The Natural Outlaw seems really nice--but I think I'm going to return it without even playing with it. I just don't feel like I have a serious need for it, along with my new Steel Heart. It would be useful, but I think I can get by using the Steel Heart in it's place. I'll probably order one again, when finances are a bit less constrained; but for now, I think I'll have to make do without it. I'm going to think about this over the weekend before making my final decision.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Paul's Hatchet is very cool. Here are some of my initial impressions: It appears that it packs serious chopping power into a very light, small design. The way you can choke up on it makes it seem almost like two tools in one. Extremely innovative. Even compared to the other Busse knives, Paul's Hatchet seems particularly indestructible. It seems like it would also be good for throwing; but I don't know much about throwing axes, so I could be off-base. It's very comfortable to hold both as an axe and like an ulu. It seems like it would make a very effective wedge to use with a baton. It seems like a pretty good hammer, too. It also seems like it would be the best choice for trying to mount my camera onto.

I have to go. Let me just finish by saying

I LIKE IT!

Mike

Glad you like them!

I am especially interested in your impressions of the chopping power of the PH vs. the SH. I'd also like to hear how your camera-mount project works out :D

Sounds like you've had quite an INFI week :D:D

Keep us updated on your experiences with these knives, sounds like you'll be getting some good use out of them. :D

Evolute,
Nice blades. Don't think too hard about the NO, you'll
end up keeping it.;)

Some great pieces there!! :) The NO was one of my favorite blades, but I can understand exactly where you are coming from if there is a SH filling those sized needs currently. Both are great, but I think you're right that the SH can still perform the finer functions along with the NO.

Great taste Evolute, congrats again.... :)

Thanks for the congratulations, everybody.

I'll give you my impressions of PH chopping vs SH chopping as soon as I can. Right now, I'm visiting my brother in LA, and his apartment is sadly lacking in extraneous items to hack to pieces. All this hungry infi will have to wait a little while before I get to really try it out. Right now, about the best I can do is go buy a few coconuts.

Soon....

Congrats Evolute!Nice haul this week.

I think DN is right, the NO may grow on you if you aren't careful:eek:

I would really like to hear more about PH I've been intrigued by this guy for a while now. Does it have the same asymetrical edge as the other CG line?

Oh yeah, and definitely post some pics :)

Evolute, congrats on your new Busses.

I agree that the Steel Heart seems to fill all the needs of the NO plus some, but we also would like your comparison of the NO and the PH:p
(just another reason to keep her;))
