I'd not been hiking long today when I bumped into one of my buddies.
He was out with his new pup, Snicker thought he was great, I can see a friendship on the horizon here !
As I waved goodbye to my mate I came across this beauty, it's called Indian Paintbrush. Here is a little info on this flower:
The flowers of Indian paintbrush are edible and sweet, and were consumed in moderation by various American Indian tribes as a condiment with other fresh greens. These plants have a tendency to absorb and concentrate Selenium in their tissues from the soils in which they grow, and can be potentially very toxic if the roots or green parts of the plant are consumed. It should be avoided as food if found growing in highly alkaline soils, which will increase the selenium levels in the plants. Indian paintbrush has similar health benefits to consuming garlic if only the flowers are eaten in small amounts and in moderation.
I also came across one of my favourite wild edibles, Glasswort, these make a tasty snack and are very salty:
On the beach I got a little fire going:
Maisy and Snicker went to see what they could find:
Snicker dragged this starfish outta the water:
She seemed quite obsessed with the Starfish !!!
Maisy stood watch:
As we headed back I came across this handsome guy who was quite happy to pose as a model for me !
