so yeah after seeing the para 2 come up in hundreds of posts. and after asking myself over and over again what will this knife do that the other spydercos i own wont, i finely gave up and pulled the trigger again.my frist and most used spyderco was the centofante the frist one, loved its slimness and ats34 steel, still have it and sometimes it still sees pocket time but after many resharpings it was time to move on. iam looking for another one its just a damn fine knife if a bit on the light side. next was a manix, whoa now this is one stout knife its only fault is being way too frightning for the sheeple of our planet. next a salsa ahh calming to the sheeple, good church knife but too small for my every day tasks. next the tenacious, this one is abought perfect in size and comfort. its for the money one hell of a knife. then i got its little borther the ambitious almost the same blade as the salsa but feels better in my hand., a tad thicker grip and g10 instead of aluminum you can do the same things with but longer. so what did i need a para for? now i have only owned this for a few hours but as i see it it offers the best points of my spydercos all in one package.its has the sharp point of my centofante i work in a wood product shop and splinters are a every day thing.it has the comfort of the tenacious and about the same blade lenght. the compression lock of the salsa, cool, strong and fun to play with. built stout like the manix. all in all it looks like this one will do anything i ask a knife to do . the only drawback i can see is it will cause a sampede if opened in front of sheeple. the last 50 years have been spent looking for the perfect pocket knife , is this it? thankfully no but its damn close

The PM2 is a nice knife. It is one of the few knives that I kept after selling off most of my stable. I kept four Spydies. It isn't my favorite, but I liked it enough to keep it. Ergos are good, opens with authority, strong lock up. However, it is my least favorite blade shape. I much prefer the leaf shape of my Manix 2 and Dragonfly 2, and even the Gayle Bradley's. The biggest detractor for me is the steel though. I wish I would have bought a sprint run with upgraded steel. My Manix 2 is CTS-XHP, Dragonfly 2 ZDP-189, and the GB CPM M4. I love the idea and design of the compression lock, if not the actual execution/operation. YMMV.

Congrats are in order anyway! Hope you love it.

The PM2 is one of my favorites. I have big hands, and I like nice handles. Flicks open with authority. Carries well, not as heavy as the Manix 2 G10's, blade isn't as heavy as the saber grind manix (which tends to make the opening feel a bit more clunky, even though the CBB is technically a smoother opening).

If I could only have 1 folder, it would be the PM2. Thankfully, I'm not limited. 99.99% of the time, I carry the PM2 or a FRN manix 2.

I've owned many PM2's...as a sort of H/A collection, but I'm not a collector. I just love the choice of steels and the compression lock.
Now, I have just an Elmax and a S35VN to admire, but they are also great folders. I never carry these things; just look at them occasionally, and that's enough. Perhaps the most special design that I've ever seen...

You now own one of the finest folders ever designed.
Don't sell it.

I enjoyed reading that OP...I feel like you did an excellent job of inviting the reader into your experiences and perspective on a topic that has been discussed alot. I am more apt to grab a manix, but love my para and it sees plenty of pocket time! Carried it today actually. Hope it serves you well.
