Got my Queen back

I just got my queen back from BRK&T. I sent it in because everyone knows how thick those blades are, and how hard it is to work that D2 tool steel. I got my copperlock in the mail Sat. and was very very happy. I try to get some pics when the sun comes out (overcast today). This baby push cuts news paper smooth as silk. I wanted to post this because if anyone has a queen they just can not get sharp like they want, just send it to BRK&T (you will not be disappointed).

Thanks,
John

Here are a few shots of the knife before and after it came back. BTW I feel I should give credit where it was due. Mike informed me that his son conved my blade. I do not know his name, but he did a great job.

Thanks for all those to talked me into sending my knife to BRK&T :D .

Thanks BRK&T for a great job.

Mike and his crew know what they are doing.
Now that it is sharp, w/ that D-2, you can expect it to stay that way for a very long time.

Love it.

That looks scary sharp. I was thinking of having them convex my cocobole whittler. Any guesses what that might cost? BTW-do you have an email address or contact info?

Hi,
I hate to sound stupid, but after putting a convex edge on your blade, can you use a sharpmaker to keep it sharp?

Thank you,
Brett

Yes you can. BRKT puts on a fairly shallow convex bevel that is at a lower angle than the Sharpmaker.

Can you send BRK&T anything? I would love the funky blade on my Vic Spirit multitool ground into a wharncliff shape, and the bevels cleaned up where I took the serrations off. Do you think they'd do it?

I have a Mini Canadian from them that I really like, and a new curly maple Northstar on the way.

Foilist -

That Northstar sure likes like a mighty fine knife. There is one from one of their dealers with an Impala horn handle for $165 that is going to make my VISA card leap out of my wallet if I'm not careful!

did they take the writing off the balde convexing it because i did mine before i lost it and it was the only way I could do was by well taking the nice cosmetic look off the blade. Any idea how they do it is it by belt grinder or what??? I'm curious :D

As far as I know Bark River uses belts for everything. I would expect it to remove the blade etch.

Yes you loose all the etching, which I think looks better. The finsh that is left kind of looks like a Bose knife. The D-2 cuts sooo much better after having BRK&T tweak it.

Thanks, I did my just with a ruler and some wet and dry and kept moving up the grades but because the balde has a minute hollow it didn't look at nice as that one does :D. I said did because I lost it camping but it gave me an exucse to get a better pocket knife more suited for my needs.

Anyone else find that the clip blade on their two bladed models is never as sharp as the spey blade???
