Got my RAT Fire Kit today!!

Got my RAT Fire Kit from KSF today., along with some paracord(you can never have too much of that! lol).

Man, this thing is impressive!! I used an old hacksaw blade I made into a couple of strikers and when you guys say it makes "small balls of molten particles" you aren't kidding!! This blows away the other 5 or 6 firesteels that I have, there's just no comparison! I'm truly impressed! Now I just gotta get to work making some PJ and cotton balls to put in it!

Just outta curiosity., what are ya'll putting in the capsule part? I think I'm going with PJ/cotton balls but I'm just curious what ya'll are using yours for.

Very nice! How much does it weigh compared to a "Strike Force" fire steel?

don't have one of those.., it's not as light as some but I think the capsule(which also makes for a great gripping surface) and the thicker misch-metal rod more than make up for any added weight.

A review I found says it weighs 3oz, which I can't verify since I don't have a scale.

I just went and made up some PJ/cotton balls and put some in the capsule, works great! I had to try lighting one on my wife's cookie sheet(hope she doesn't notice) and they lit extremely easy with the "molten particles" this thing shoots!
