Got my RMD LE today...

First RMD for me. Actually my first bussekin knife altogether. Can't believe how comfortable it is in hand. I liked it so much I actually ordered an RMD CG tonight! :)

My only complaint is my knife arrived DULL. Not quite butter knife dull but I mean DULL. I can fix that, but I'm really shocked it left the factory that way. Is that kinda normal for these knives?
 
Lots of folks like to change the angle of the edge or convex it so maybe they figure they'll get it close and let the customer do their thing. Folks that buy Bussekin knives are usually good at sharpening them I imagine. That's my guess on the subject.

Mine wasn't hair-shaving sharp either. Seems to be par for the course with Busse & kin. Sometimes they're razors, sometimes they're not. Luckily the edge sharpness seems to be more consistent now than it was in the past.
 
Glad it arrived safely and thanks for the RMD order, it is already boxed and ready to go.

If at anytime you aren't happy with the sharpness of our blades we will take care of it for you.

Got the shipping notification for the CG after 1:30am this morning. Do you ever sleep? :)

Btw, did I get my first choice on color combo?

This is the way the addiction starts. Check back in next year and let us know how many Busse kin you have.

Well, I wasn't up packing it at 1:30 AM ;) I packed it earlier and the email just went out at that time.
You got your first choice Tan Canvas with black blade. There aren't many of the canvas colors left in stock so your order came in at the right time to get what you wanted.

Got mine today also and wanted to thank Eric for the speedy delivery. Great looking and feels good in the hand. Guess I'll add my 2 cents about the dullness also but I'll see what I can do myself on the beautiful blade.
 
wow I figured with it being an LE it would come with a razor zero edge, hope mine comes sharp. Congrats though I am pretty pumped about this one, best of both worlds, RMD and LE.
 
Yeah that's what factory sharp typically is, that's normal. Strop it a few times and it will be razor. I always hit my users on a strop a few times when I buy them new. If you are concerned about it being sharp out the box, I wouldn't be. Sharpen it. Use it. Love it.
 
My LE came very sharp. My previous coated RMD not so much - but, after a few passes on a strop it was where I wanted it.

Thanks everybody. Since I went ahead and ordered a CG as well, I may make that my user and put the LE in the safe. I ordered #126 as that is my oldest son's birthday, and I figured it would be his knife one day anyways. He's only 3 now so he'll have to wait a few years though. :)

Now I just gotta save up some money for a Rodent Solution. That knife is really calling to me. Does the addiction ever end?

I wonder if a thread were started where members post pics of their LEs---just how many we scored as apposed to the "gen. pop." that chooses not to partake in this corner of the Internet. Just a random thought, pay it no mind. ;)
 
Hey guys. Im new to the forum also and was thinking about buying a RMD LE also. What's the difference between the LE and CG models? And is the RMD Variant still availible?

Also does anyone have any suggestions for a 4" blade that's similar to the RMD design from the rat family? I would rather have a 4" clip point style blade. Thanks
 
The only difference between the LE and the CG is the coating (LEs are Satin) and the fact the handles are G10 on the LE - not Micarta.
RMD Variants seem to pop up only at shows/ganzas or on the Exchange now and then.... I was lucky to score a Black coated Bowie variant a while ago....
And your last question ? Not sure, mate but have a look at the HCLE 4.0 - it might suit your needs......you just have to find one for sale - I saw one yesterday but it sold already...
