Recently got Chase Axinn to mold a micarta handle to my Strider WP fixed blade.
As you can see in the photo before it has a simple cord wrapped handle with a pathetic finger guard. I was sure that eventually my hand was going to just slide right up the blade as I use this knife for just about everything.
But Mr. Axinn fixed me right up and made a handle that he says a pack of angry elephants couldn't pull the blade free from. I had him cut notches in the spine and in the handle where the index finger rests and thumb would rest in a reverse grip. He took my very simple instructions on how I wanted the knife to feel and handle in various grips and contoured the handle just right. It has a slight swell at the bottom to fill in the hand nicely. The balance is perfect. It has hollow steel pins and a simple drilled hole for a lanyard. This knife went from an interesting piece to the knife I do not let out of my sight. The notches cut in the tang look a little rough but that's just because they weren't refinished. They're actually cut quite evenly. I put it through some good hard use before I would report that the handle is solid and permanent. IT IS! I've beat the crap out of this knife and it's as solid as a rock. Overall I was amazed and completely satisfied with his work.
Here is his contact info you you want to see or inquire about his work. It's worth the plug.
