Hey gentlemen,

I finally got enough saved up to buy the blade I've been drooling over since I got into knives this past fall. A ZT 0561. Firstly I want to say that I absolutely love this blade. When picking a edc blade I'm a nutnfancy type guy, I like very light blades. Before I got this blade I mostly carried a Delica and if I felt frisky one day I'd carry my Para 2. When I ordered this blade I kinda figured I wouldnt edc it because of the weight, but I'm surprised on how well ZT made this blade so light! Its awesome!!

The one question I do have is with the lockup. When I received it, it was around 60% and now its ~70%. I've had it about 4 days, and have cycled it at least 200x's.

I've done tons of searches and reading and have found a bunch of conflicting information. I've read people say that majority of the lock is already worn and wont have much life in.

Then on the other hand I've read people say that you shouldnt worry about it as long as it locks up solid with the late lockup it will hold up for years. In which it does, it locks up like a freakin bank vault.

The late lockup doesnt bother me at all as long as it has several yrs of life in the lock.

Id appreciate some thoughts guys, this is my first framelock and frankly dont know a whole lot about them.

Thanks alot, you guys are the best. I learn so much from this forum everyday!

Well, I am sure the lockup is quite secure. But I personally would probably send it in for warranty repair. But thats because I generally have OCD over lockup haha. It probably does have plenty of life left. So its mainly if it bothers you or not.

You're fine. Don't worry about it. The Sebenza's normally come with lock up around 60 - 70% and people use them every day for 16+ years.
It's not going to hurt the knife or the years of enjoyment and use you'll get out of the knife.

Cool guys, thanks alot!

Like I said, it doesnt bother me as long as it has plenty of life left in it.

I really love everything about this blade! Before I got this blade my Para 2 felt like a huge knife in my hands, now the Para 2 feels like a delica I love it!

Thanks again guys (and gal!)

One suggestion for you ;). If you love the size of the Zero Tolerance and the lightness of the Para 2. Get a Spyderco Military at some point. They are fantastic! Not as a replacement. But as another acquisition :D.

Thanks for the suggestion steel, I've never really looked at bigger blades like the millies because I never cared for big blades. That may be changing now. :)

I'm one of the guys that prefers a framelock to be 50-75% when new. Of course, I'd like it to stay there, too. Yours looks fine to me.

Thanks dale, you guys are making me feel much better.

It seems like many make a bigger deal about early lock up than needed huh?

Different knife, I know, but my Sage 2 settled into about 70% lockup quite quickly. Initially I was a bit concerned, but it's settled in quite nicely and hasn't moved a bit since then. It's a great little slicer (and addictive to flick open), so I use it quite often - not worried about the lockup, though.

90% of people have the wrong idea about lock engagement on frame locks and have no idea how it should work. most people want the first 10% of the lock to engage the blade, thats just stupid. your knife looks fine and should last a long time, enjoy it.
