I've always wanted a Vic Scientist, of course due to the interesting posts about it (UnknownVT started the madness) and so I took the plunge after some fits and starts.
I highly recommend purchasing from Tim (Felinevet) because his website under sosak seems to find these rare models, and because he was courteous and quick in helping me make the transaction. No glitches at all.
Observations: Looks about as thick as my Compact. This model has the pin in it aside from the toothpick, tweezers and ballpen. In-line philips! woohoo!
My last big find was a red alox pioneer, ordered from an internet site (Lighters Galore Plus). It must have been the last one in stock because it seemed to take some time to get it (I imagine they were scouring their stock), but by gum, it arrived. It had '97 inscribed on its blade base! Later, the price went up and the red alox model was no longer an option in the website. I really appreciated their professional service.
The red pioneer appeared to have slightly discolored oil(?) on it, maybe due to its age, but it was NIB. This Scientist also is NIB and looks spanking new, actually.
Excuse me while I get back to admiring it...
