that I purchased on a DOTD a couple of weeks ago.
I must say that I haven't even used this knife yet, but I'm fairly sure that it is going to become my most favorite working knife, even over my villager BAS's or WWII's, which I like and use a fair amount.
The Pen I have is the 18" Yangdu sold as a blem with no sheath or etc. The knife itself is pretty rough, even by villager standards. The finish on the knife is quite rough, you can see the marks left on the blade when the knife was polished, very wavy.
In addition, the handle is not centered squarely with the blade.
Even so, the knife came very sharp, and its balance seems to be great for working.
It has a thinner blade than most khuks I own of similar length, which makes it lighter. As designed by pendantive (Dan Koster), the blade is also straighter than most khuks.
The handle on this Pen is different than most other models in that it seems to be a bit thinner, and the butt cap is smaller with much less "horn", a feature I really like.
This knife is gonna be a beater, and I think I got a good deal from Yangdu on it.
Thank you, Yangdu!
Andy
