My Volpe arrived today from the great folks at New Graham. It's just been out of the box long enough to handle a bit and take these pictures. I figured folks might want to get a look at this knife.

The first thing I'll say is I like it. I REALLY like it. I was excited by the design when I first saw pictures of it and I'm pleased that the finished product delivers on my anticipation. I don't always care for SS handled knives but this one I'm swayed by.

The pivot is very smooth, opening and closing are very easy. The lockup is set right where I'd want it and the blade is dead on center when closed. The knife feels good in hand. The handle edges are smooth and comfortable. The wood pieces on the handle are nicely finished and set. No rough edges or gaps. The blade easily shaved armhair, though I wouldn't expect anything less from a Spyderco in that regard. No blade play in the open position.

Again, these are all just observation from having the knife a grand total of 20 minutes, but if first impressions count for anything the Volpe has made a great one with me.

Pictures below, I'll try to do some more over the weekend. For size comparison, the other knives shown are an Endura and a Viele II.

I have also received my Volpe, and am pleased with the quality. One thing I didn't know if I would care for or not was the lettering on the blade but I can live with it.

Very nice!

I've been considering the Volpe, but also really would like the Viele II.

Looking forward to more "impressions".

Gah. if only they offered a left-hand version of this knife I would be all over it.

Thanks for the pics.

Hmmm. I really don't like the unfitted onlay as much as an inlayed knife or a well fitted one like the Viele. N690 steel is the same as the Monochrome which you can pick up for $30 or so. I will reserve further judgement until I get mine.....

I know some people aren't hot on the 690 steel, but owning this knife and also having used a BM Monochrome, they're not the same class of knife. The Volpe is so much nicer. I think one would really be shortchanging the Volpe by taking away from it just based on the steel. If at all possible, handle the Volpe so you can get a feel for its build quality.
