I had a slab of Granite left over from our kitchen counter remodel 10 years ago. Knew I'd need it someday...............wife didn't think so because she calls me a hoarder! Any way, I bought a diamond blade for my Skill-Saw and cut the slab today. Trying hard to get set up for this sheath making portion of my blade making.

Yeah its on the light side. It will help if you put something under it like a poundo board (rubber mat) or something. I've even heard of folks using folded up newspaper or a towel.

I have a 1 1/4 thick marble one I have used for over 20 years with success. As a Dave suggests, glue poundo board on the bottom. It will reduce shock in the slab and quiet things down when you are using it. I also have a 9x12, 3 inch thick black granite slab for the heavier work and skiving as well. I got it from Wood Crafters on sale for about $80. I still use the marble for most tooling though.

I would imagine any reasonably thick rubber mat would work just fine. I just had a lot of poundo board available.

I'll check around. Two pieces of Poundo board from Tandy's would run $40..........$40 I don't have right now.

Try the small, thick pieces of mat used in work areas. It can usually be found reasonably cheap
