Ric;
Glad to hear you recieved your knives. I believe you'll be well pleased as you discover they perform as well as they look.
Now you can discover for yourself the degree of quality which can be achieved in a hand-made product that's crafted from the soul. You can now be witness to the difference in my knives as you will find I invest more than just time & materials into my work.
The temper line you referred to is intentional and is visible on all my knives. As I had advertised, I differentially harden & temper my blades in my shop. I don't like to etch the blade to highlight the temper lines as I prefer a more refined finish. If I was to leave the blade blued, it would be pretty dark blue/black like a gun barrel so I further hand-polish it out to a nice dark grey patina to allow the distinct temper lines to show through. I like the look as it demonstrates the skillfully applied heat-treatment for my own professional touch.
Have fun with these, I'm certain you'll be very pleased.
