Well as I was leaving for work at 1:00 p.m. today who rings the door bell but the post man with my YCS. Monday was already a success. So I opened it up and then ran out back to cut off various branches off my trees, lol, damn this thing just hacked off limbs like they were nothing, very impressed. It did have a small chip off the handle ring, but I really don't care, I may end up sanding it down a bit to fit my hand better but I don't think it's too bad really.

I originally wanted to buy a machete for camping but then found the H.I. website and knew I had to have a Khukuri. The YCS is almost 18 inches long and weighs 1.6 pounds or 23 ounces. I don't see myself buying anything heavier than this, this will be my chopper and what ever else I need in spurts but I would also like something as long or longer but lighter to act more as a bush cutter like a machete because this is heavy duty and will wear my ass out clearing trails. I'm 5'9 160 lb.s

I love this YCS set, it will last me a lifetime I'm sure.

Does any one own the Kumar Kobra as it looks to be ideal for what I want to do concerning brush clearing.

Thanks Yangdu and H.I.

The recent Gelbu, Malla or even Sirupati at 21" will clear up the brush faster as well. Slim Jim for brush, Big Joe for large branches.

18" YCS at 23Oz is a dreamer! Don't mistake this for a machete. It's a Himalayan Thundercats by its own, waiting to unleash.

Do read the safety instruction on how to use a khuk properly.

Oh sweet YCS...

Yep this aint no machete, that's for sure. This is my heavy duty Khuk and now I want the faster, lighter Khuk to cover those 2 bases, I'm sure I'll come up with other reasons for another Khuk down the road, like everyone else.

God I love the YCS. I have two err.. had two. I gave my neem to my pops recently after he expressed how well made it is and how well it works after I gave him a test run. He uses it to chop down branches and brush closer to the root. It's light and it works wonders as a yard tool. Don't underestimate it's delicate appearance I've put it through some good use and after a cleaning still looks as good as when I purchased it. I'm on the lookout for another neem. Damn, I hate excuses...

That's how it starts, brother. One for machete work, one for smaller tasks... another heavy duty in case your heavy duty breaks... maybe a slightly different heavy duty as well, and maybe a hybrid...

It just never ends :P

Thanks Jay, I read the thread on how to swing the Khuk, and after using it I can see their is a skill to it.

I'm curious as to how much your Khuk's weighed Ninja.
