Greetings fellow Knuts! I just blew back from the windy city, and I'm not bashful to say I missed you guys! Needless to say I have a mountain of posts to catch up on.

All pleasantries aside, I thought I could tap the forum for Khuk suggestions. I know this will be hard on ya'll ( Kinda like discussing bears!!!:D ) Here is the situation: My Boss's nephew in Texas will beome an Eagle Scout in late November. My Boss, having seen and handled my small ( but incrementally growing:D ) collection o' Khukuris wants me to choose one that would be best for his nephew as a gift. I have my ideas, but I want to see how ya'll rise to the occasion.

Not knowing alot about the lad we have to operate on the assumption that the Khuk will be primarily for outdoor/camping/hiking activities. I do know that he is 5'9" and about 160 #. Thanks for your suggestions. Who knows, there may be an unexplained outbreak of HIKV in south Texas!:D

Second. Good all around knife and light enough for hiking, and indestructable. He can always get more once his HIKV becomes unmanageable!:D

...of course, at 5'9" and 160, he'd be big enough to .....HEE HEE...Stick with the AK. This could start another feeding frenzy

He said the kid is a nephew and an Eagle Scout....researching Girl Scouts is not appropriate (Den Mothers excepted). Cool It :p

The AK is the one khuk I'm unsure of getting. It may be too thick in my opinion for the cutting of pople. :D

There's also the 16 1/2 WWII to consider. It flys like a butterfly but stings like a bee...

Hope I didn't butcher Muhammad Ali's line too badly. Anyway, you guys get the idea.
;)

Arvind, I don't know if you did anything to Ali's phrase or not, but my 16 1/2" WWII agrees with you ....it is laying beside my keyboard, and its' cho just got wider - I think it is smiling

Thanks for the input, all, be sure to chime in if ya hadn't. I didn't want to skew the replies by stating my opinion, but the top three were indeed a 15" AK, BAS, an 16.5" WWII. Having none of the three ( A problem I intend to solve ;) ) I thought it best to ask those who have experience with them.

BTW Uncle, can the Kamis engrave the boy scout insignia on the handle of a Janawar Katne? ;) Just a thought! The suggestion was good for a chuckle, Thanks

-Craig

Craig, when I was a scout a few years ago, I could have really used a 15" AK. That's the one I take with me when I go up into the mountains.

Well while I'm stuck in the land of the Arkanoids(Arkansas)
with nothing but rocks and hickory trees the 16.5 W.W.II works well,
back home in s.e. TEXAS I prefer a suripati works better on pine trees and swamp land.
