Been doing some work on my SAR5, it's got a ways to go, but so far I've....
Ground down and reshaped pommel
Sanded scales to take some bite out of the grip
narrowed and contoured lower half of handle
stripped coating
ground swedge into a drop point
convexed zero edge (was nicely polished but is now scuffed up from trying to satin the rest of the blade)
Still need to remove scales and give a proper polish, grind scales down on butt side to make a protruding tang, round edges of the spine near the handle and square them up nice and sharp near the tip (for striking fero rods)
Already I feel this is a great improvement, it's lighter, better balanced and has a much more comfortable grip.
