Got some smudges on your light colored G10?

I was talking to my Mom about cleaners (since moms are usually the masters of cleanliness) and asked her what she might recommend to clean smudges off some of my lighter colored G10 handles. I had already tried using a toothbrush and some soap but it just didn't quite get deep enough to remove my smudges.

She recommended trying a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser. They're these special white sponges that apparently clean anything without soap. I gave it a try on my Gray Para 2 and made it look great. I can't see any smudges now and it looks new.

I also had oily smudges on my Foliage Green and Tan Manix 2's near the lock tabs from my fingers engaging the lock. A few swipes with the Magic Eraser and it looks clean as new. It couldn't be any easier/quicker.

Soap and a tooth brush may work for some people but there's no way it's as easy a swiping it a couple times with one of these "Magic" Sponges. I'm very impressed right now and I feel a lot better about using my Spyderco's with lighter colored G10 because I know how easy it will be to keep them clean in the future.

Thanks, Mr. Clean!

I hope this helps anyone who has the same concerns about G10 cleanliness.
We gotta keep these "earthy" colored Spydies looking their best! ;)

I'll have to pick one of those up, love my orange UKPK but it sure shows the dirt.

i havnt tried it on a knife but while doing finish work on custom homes we used them alot to clean finger prints or whatever got on the celing when installing fans or can trims or whatever....only downside is they tend to start flaking once they get old.

Yeah, they actually start to rub to shreds the instant you rub them on G10, especially if it's aggressive, though they still clean while they're shredding.

Spyderco has released many sprint runs a regular production models alike with light colored G10. I figured I'd throw this out there for the ones like me who couldn't figure out a good way to remove the smudging.

Great tip! grabbed a box off the shelf and tried it out on my urban which was pretty grungy looking...looks like new!
Just did my orange Millie as well, colour is popping again. This works far better than the toothbrush and dish soap I was using before.

cool. I'll give it a try. I tried for a while to keep my grey para clean but eventually gave up. Now it is really dirty but I kind of like it. It almost looks like the scales on my green g10 delica.

I prefer the dirty scales. It gives it character. Besides. I use my knives. I don't care how it looks.

This thread is clearly for people who are interested in cleaning their G10, but thanks for your input.

I use my knives too, that's how they got dirty.
