:D Got the ASH-1 Today :D

http://www.putfile.com/samuraironin/images/172461

THERE ARE 3 PLACES ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE BLADE(OTHER SIDE OF LOGO) WHERE THE COATING IS NOT NORMAL(LOOKS SMUDGED)-

It's not BAD--but on a knife of this quality--I was shocked to see it there at all..

I tried to Photograph it--Hard to do.

I DO NOT THINK I COULD EVER RE-SELL IT AS MINT-AS IF YOU PAID ME FOR A MINT KNIFE AND I SENT THIS TO YOU--YOU WOULD NOT THINK IT WAS MINT.

I have no intention of re-selling---.

Knife feels great in hand--Damn Glad I got the standard G-10 Grips and not Magnum.

Even my 109lb wife likes the ASH-1 grips better than the Magnum Hell Razor grips. So if you have smaller hands--get the Standard grips.

Is the finish problem common to combat grade Busse's???

THANKS

Dr.William Martin

Bill,

Those little swirls are normal in the black coating.
Just very random and not on every blade.

Congrats Doc... nice ASH-1!!!

I can't see the smudge in your pics...
but if it looks kind of like a star burst or when a drop of oil hits water...
that's pretty normal.

I've seen and have that on a couple of my black coated blades...
seen it on the muddy coat too.

I think the best thing to do is go out and beat that thing senseless.
In time, and with use, you wont see it anymore. :D

I can't see the "smudges" in your pictures, but if it is something that bothers you, definitely call the shop on Monday. If you just plan on beating the tar out of it, then I wouldn't bother sending it back in, but I know how something like that nags on a person sometimes.

What Mulder & Lil' Foo said,

The little star burst thingies. My black ASH-1 has a couple.

I saw it more on the muddy finish with the EDC Ganza knives. I'm not sure if it hit the forum, we had numerous discussions in PM land about it :foot:.

Go out and beat something with it, you'll forget about it in no time !

It's not a big or even small deal

Going to beat it like a Terrorist tomorrow

Thanks again!!

Dr.B

I have seen that on some knives I have or had I never gave it any thought.

Bill, I can't see it in the pics either, but I'll echo what others have said. Once in a while, there's a "swirl" or "star" or "sunburst" in the coating.

That's just where Jerry drank too much scotch and bumped the switch on the super-duper-coating thingamabob. ;)

Beat it like a red-headed step-child.

It's really where an INFI elf sat on your knife.

The CG ASH-1 does seem indestructible. One heck of a sharpened pry bar. Seems as if normal, non-armored objects like houses and cars wouldn't stand a chance, much less defenseless trees and lesser shrubbery. TTD at your leisure, gentlemen. Pete
Post Script: The swirls are an artifact of the coating process, not an intentional effect. Should not change the coating's performance. (I have a few on mine.) PIGmsayre
