I had decided to try one of GEC's #66 jack knives out a long time ago, but I never got around to it until now.
Mr. Humppa and Paul Hilborn have been messing with my mind by posting pics of their Green Jacks from GEC and since I have been without a Green GEC in my rotation until now.

It's the Tidioute River Green Bone and I love it. Being a PA Native, I have spent some time canoeing on the Tidioute River in Titusville, so when I first saw this option I knew it would be the one. It's a dark green, but it's a lovely color that really shines in the light of the sun. It seems almost black in places, but it's just a very dark green, much like the actual Tidioute.

The edge on the Master blade was usable, but not scary. I'm heading for camp tomorrow, so I want a really good edge. I have been working on getting it to where I want it, but it's still not there. It's popping hair right now, but after I'm finished it will be scary.

Thankfully I have the Kevin strop by my side.

Very nice Johnny:thumbup: It is one of my favorite EDC's. It packs alot of blade in a robust yet smallish package. Your right that it looks even nicer in the sunlight.

If you don't mind we might as well have additional pic's:)

It does get scary sharp and I love how the backsprings develop a nice patina as well.

Enjoy

You said a mouthful there! The same sources have been tempting me. I even went so far as to contact a dealer to inquire about one, before sanity returned and I realized I have spent too much lately. It is haunting me though, because as much as I love dark green, I do not have a pocket knife in that lovely shade.

Gorgeous knife!

Thats great Johnny! I really want to try one too, but I am waiting for the right one like you did :)

Glad that strop is working out so well for you. That makes me happy to hear, and that edge looks GREAT!

Have fun camping :)

Thanks for sharing Paul, I hope that Humppa will share his too.

Paul, your knife is looking great.
Has it ever been through wild game prep?

I am liking it so far and I think it will make a fine EDC. I keep comparing it to my #56 Dogleg and I need to stop that, they are totally different.
The blade has finally taken a good edge and I think it's ready for camp, I want to get the patina going ASAP.

Kevin, you need to keep hunting and get one, they are great.

Doug, you should have made the jump when you were already up there.

I never have been able to figure out why serp and swell center jacks just get me going. Sweet looking examples.

Hi Johnny!

Maybe it´s my fault, maybe Paul´s, but I think we both like getting judged because of this :D

The #66 Serpentine looks great, as well as mine has done, when I got it. Now, after a little use and a nice patina it even looks better. I´m sure you can enjoy this great knife :)

Posted an actuall pic of my #66 Serpentine Jack River Green today, but here it´s again

The title of this thread makes me want to play some AC/DC. And the knife pics reminded me that I haven't bought a GEC in WEEKS!!!!

Very nice. Since I saw pictures of Humppa's thats been on my list. I think it just moved up abit now. I'm liking the looks of the pattern a little more than the #56 dogleg I have.

Johnny, I was in the same boat so to say in regards to swappin out my #56 jack for the #66. I still flip flop the two of them---really how can you not:) In regards to wild game prep, that it hasn't seen but plenty of raw steak prepped for the grill:thumbup:

Paul

That green bone is sweet!

I had to get a 66 jack, and the pumpkin patch acrylic knocked me out so I bought it. The pattern of the acrylic is really deep, and it came fairly sharp out of the tube unlike a couple of others I have. I do have to knock a tiny bit off the kick though, the point is slightly exposed.

I'm looking forward to camping myself, regular camporees start next month

ZippoFan, looks like you have found a perfect pocket pal too.

Paul, thanks for the info.
I will be using mine for small game and a host of other chores this year.
I won't be documenting the patina, but I hope I have a good one going in a month.

I know it's been said before about you, johnny, but every time you take a picture of a knife and put it up here it makes my bank account ballance shrink a little. GEC should keep you on retainer, man! That thing looks like a winner. Have fun on your get away!

J-2shoes...The Jack is simply one of the best knife patterns out there, that and the HJ, They rule!, there is NO doubt about that!!
I know what you mean about Andi, and Paul..they do have a LOT to answer for! :D

Great looking knives johnny & Paul.(Andi, I've seen pics of yours before too, but they're not showing up on this thread).

You guys ever hear of the straw that broke the camel's back? :D This thread may be just that! My #56 Dogleg is pretty sweet, and so I always figured I didn't need a #66 Serpentine. I may have been wrong about that. ;)

Looks great Johnny!! I haven't posted mine in awhile but I've been using that same one. Here it is next to a #73 and the group shot of #66 Jacks when it was still new.
