I'm not real crazy about tanto blades, but something about this knife made me want one. I guess I pre-ordered it a couple 2 or 3 months ago (I can't remember) and I was surprised to get an email saying that it had shipped. Not to bad for $28.95...

3.5" blade, Speedsafe with flipper, G10 scales.

Here's the pics...

I like it. I'm not nuts over tanto blades either, but that has a nice, clean shape. It looks like it has some fairly thick liners. Hows lockup?

Btw, love that pocket clip! Can it be set for tip up carry?

Lock up is nice and tight, so no blade movement at all. There are provisions for right hand tip up carry as well (sorry lefties).

...and as usual coming from Kershaw, it's SHARP!!

I'm gonna have to jump on this one... I was pretty pumped for it when I first came across the "First Look" thread that Thomas posted. Thanks for the great pictures Johnny Numbers. Deep carry FTW!

Good lookin' knife...especially for $30!

That's pretty much what I thought when I first learned about it.

I liked the overall looks of the knife and I figured I couldn't go wrong for what amounts to...$30. I like it! It'll make a nice addition to the EDC rotation.

You're very welcome! I figured you guys would like to see some real world pics.

I was trying to remember where I saw this knife and first got a look at it...it was that "First Look" thread, I remember now. Thanks for the reminder!

Nice pics! My feelings about the knife are exactly the same as some others who have commented here. I'm not generally a fan of tantos, but I really like the lines on this one and have been considering getting it since it was announced a while back. I've had excellent experiences with Kershaw's China-made models in the past, and combining that with the low price point, I think I might toss one in with one of my orders sometime in the next month or two.

I'll be all over the smaller version of this whenever it comes out. Looks really sexy.

I was really looking forward to this one, it would be one of the very few low budget knives I was gonna buy. But it looks very different from the Kershaw site:

On your pics I can't see the tanto tip like it shows here, could there be a difference between the smaller and the larger?

I was also a bit disinclined to get this when I first saw it but now I will probably be getting one as well. Looks really nice. Thanks for the pics!

Another plus to this design is the clip. Kershaw should start using a clip like this for more of their knives.

You mean how it appears that the hollow grind extends all the way to the tip, whereas on the Kershaw site it looks to be flat ground/convex at the tip? I noticed that as well. It is hard to tell from the pics in this post, it almost looks to me like hollow grind stops about 3/8" from the tip, but it could just be a shadow in the picture...

Here's the picture from the "First Look" thread. It does show it better, but things may have changed from these prototypes.

That's exactly what I mean. On the site and even on some Youtube reviews the tip looks similar to that of the Spyderco Vallotton, but here it just looks hollow ground until right at the tip. I was gunning for the looks in the 'first look' thread.

So which is it? :D

I'll snap a couple more pics, and I will see if my camera can pick up what you guys are referring too. I saw a picture of the RJ-II and noticed the tip myself.

Mine has something there...but it isn't anything that it obvious. It's all in how you hold and look at it.

I'll be back...

[EDIT]

Ok...here are a few more pics taken of the tip, and one showing how the liner lock engages the blade tang.

Wow. Nice, much better, and the tip is definitely more tanto-like, reinforced. Thanks a lot, I will be ordering the larger one.

Oh man.... I do not need another knife. I've been bitten by a Tanto bug this year , most of my purchases have been knives with Tanto blades... now I see this knife... $30 bucks huh ?

sigh... maybe i'll wait for the smaller version ? :D

Good looking knife , thanks for sharing !
