After months of waiting it came UPS.

Like the head. Modern. Very sharp. Threw it around a bit, slammed it into some wood, deck, and threw it into some logs. It stuck big time. But..... the wood were the two screws hold the head split on both side.

The handle you guys came up for this Hawk is garbage.

I think SOG is getting way too carried away with the giant logo thing. Their new knives and especially the tomahawk are starting to look like something the Power Rangers would carry. When I was in the Navy I didn't know anyone who would have been psyched to be carrying anything around in the new sheaths SOG is dressing their fixed blades in these days. They look like something a tacky toy belongs in, not a serious working knife. Giant logos and over-the top branding is pretty lame. People should be able to tell who made your knife without reading a huge wad of 32 point text on the blade or worse, on the sheath. The tomahawk is the worst- the whole thing is a giant logo, it's like a "battle axe" in the shape of an Oakley logo or the Nike swoosh. Kids might think this is rad, but a grown man with taste?

I just came back after lookng at the SOG website to abridge my above statement. The "tactical tomahawk" does look pretty boss. It's the "battle ax" that looks like it should be made out of foam and in some kid's hand. I also found out that the rope cutter being incorporated into the sheaths of some of the new fixes blades was designed by a Seal, and intended to let you cut rope or webbing without popping your assault boat. I'll give you that. It does look dopey though. As do all of the giant logos all over everything. Further, I would venture to guess that popping one's assault boat is not high on the list of concerns for 99.95% of the knife buying public.

any time i think sog is up to shit nowadays ,i just look at any one of my 14 sogs i own (all older models , e.g pentagon , mini pentagon ,seal 2000 , seal pup , s2 , recondo , dessert dagger or government agent, just to name the fixed blades in my collection) and all seems right again :)

I dont think the seals really give a rats ass.:jerkit:

I bet alot of them choose their own gear. Every knife has the seal logo slapped on it nowadays. I'm not a seal so i couldnt say for sure but that is really about the onyl way youd know what they are using nowadays.

Way to big a logo. They should take a cue from the busse logo which is small and unobtrusive as they come. Emereson too. strider, ETC....

I think SOG is kinda going down hill. Their old stuff is awesome but their new line up is kinda weird. :barf: :barf:

yeah thats why i started collecting spyderco . mr glesser actually cares , unlike spencer frazer
