Mailman brought me a package an hour ago.
It contained a Tarwar made by Bura.
Wow. I wasn't expecting anything quite like this.

Beautifully crafted. Nary a flaw in it. Straight as an arrow. Real nice walnut handle. Magic stone finish is perfect.

I don't know much about martial arts, but boy,I can snap this baby around two-handed real quick. Very nice balance with two handed grip. With slight downward pressure from my rear hand, I can hold it out in front of me and it feels "neutral".

Very nicely tooled scabbard also!

Once again, Uncle, you and Bura have placed in my hands another wonderful blade.
Thank you both.

Roger

p.s. I don't quite understand the frog. How does one use it? The "loop" is vertical, not horizontal. Must be a trick to it. How does one carry a Tarwar?

It's doubtful I will be wearing the scabbard anyway. But it does ride decently horizontally. Actually with my 1 1/2 inch belt, it rides about at a 45 deg angle and in crossdraw, I can deploy it pretty well.

I am really impressed with the Tarwar. This is SERIOUS steel!

Amazing.

Roger I know that somewhere Uncle Bill has posted the stat's for the Tarwar, but would you please post the stat's for your's for those of us who are quietly suffering with HIKV?

21 inch blade. 1 3/4 inches wide. A hair over 1/4 inch thick.

8 inch handle, very nice walnut, oval shaped with a "swell" in the middle.

Best I can tell, about 2 1/3 lbs.

Made by Bura. He did a very nice job on it.

Scabbard is very nice, with tooling depicting swans and a temple.

A very nice package, and my first "long one"

Thanks Roger.

Was/is the Tarwar sharp enough for you or are you going to sharpen it before you do any cutting with it?

One of those would be another one I could impress the g'kids with by cutting a watermelon in two with it.

For the most part, it came pretty darn sharp.
There was one area about 8 inches from the tip that I touched up a little. She's pretty hard right there. Now it will cut paper or shave hair full length

Day 2....I had it out in the back yard.
Did some serious slashing and hacking at some air. Gotta say I wouldn't want to be on the receiving end. I don't know proper fighting techniques, but I do know that it feels great in my hands and it is a lot quicker than I expected.
