I got this 1980 case xx half whittler (A6208) in lieu of a cash payment for a plumbing job i did for the pawnshop owner. The job only took about 30 minutes and my helper (who would have gotten $20) also got a 1978 case xx 80279 MOP sleeveboard. Both are new, never carried but there are light spots on the blades. Also, on mine, the smooth appaloosa bone looks and feels like tortise shell. it is awesome!! Both have perfect snap and no blade wobble. Not bad for 30 minutes work! Thanks for looking!

Cool payment you got there. The bone looks interesting, never seen something like it. Any more information on that?

Art,
In 1978, or so Case came out with their first official "colored" bone. Before then the color of the bone handles was random. Appaloosa was the first marketed color. I have two case trappers from 1979 that have jigged appaloosa and now this one. It is really cool looking imho. :D

Thanks to Steve Pfeiffer for the info from his book "Collecting Case Knives: Identification and Price Guide"

Thanks for the comments guys!

Looks like a great knife. I like the look of the bone and the back at the center pin. Nice looking knife :)

Kind regards
Andi

Amazing, how different the bone looks under different lighting conditions. I wouldn't have known that was the same knife!

Very cool indeed.

Thanks for doing the Showing with the Telling.
