Got Ti-Lite VI?

Terrible idea. A blade that long and thin will break way to easily.

Depends on what you use the knife for!

I like the TI-LITE with blue anodized Titanium Handle:

4.0 in. AUS 8A stainless steel blade.
Titanium handle with blue anodized finish.
8.75 in. overall length.
Stainless steel pocket clip.

Nice knife, not really a work horse!

Regards. ;)

How thin is it? The CUDA Maxx isn't heavy stock and I don't think the Gibbs Maxx is any thicker.

There seems to be a little confusion here. The Ti-Lites with a 4" blade are 3mm thick. The 6" Ti-Lite's blade is 4mm thick.

Also, I'd like to point out to ayzianboy that the 6" Ti-Lite's blade is 440A, and 440A often has a respectable tensile strength. Consider the USMC Ka-Bar's length to thickness ratio, and consider that 1095 does not have as great a tensile strength as 440A.

fair enough.

i have a ti-lite in AUS8 that i just sent back to cold steel for replacement though because the blade broke off.

No kidding? Wow, I knew that AUS-8A could break before it bends (done it with an old Voyager). Maybe getting the 440A could have it's benefits? I think I'll get on of the zytel models.

A little butting in.

Isn't it illogical if they increase the length of the knife without prior compensation to it's width?

I do like the larger, 13" overall, Ti-lite. It is BIG. Thanks to the slight "hour glass" shape of the handle it fits the hand, or both hands well. The cross-hatched machining on the surface of the scales, along with the holes in the scales (full steel liners so the holes are only superficial), makes for a better gripping surface than the small original zitel scales. The lockup is perfect. Outstanding point and sharpness (thank you CS & thank you Phil Boguszewski) Closing the terrific lock takes a good strong thumb. I haven't tried opening by drawing from the pocket just so yet. Waiting until I find my steel-toe boots. The fit & finish couldn't be better. Looks great and feels like a short-sword in the hand. Fits in my jean's pocket with the high-style clip holding the outer edge of my pocket. Impressive big brother to the original. A bargain @ $55 (delivered) from Grand Prairie.

All the best,

Oregon

We got this in last week and I forgot to make fun of it here.
I can fit two hands on the handle. Why that is important, I have no idea. It looks very silly with its tiny pocket clip. I hate it so, so bad. I really can't think of any reason why this should exist. It doesn't make sense to me.
That being said, I'll probably buy it. And I hate myself for it.

I just got mine and I'd have to agree with everything oregon said. The 4" zytel ti-lite has been one of my favorite knives for many years and usually been my EDC. They've put the same standard of construction into the 6" version. For the price its a heck of a knife.

It seems fragile on the web but once you're actually holding the thing, it not only seems a heck of a lot longer but also much thicker. I wouldn't want to use the point for prying or chiseling, obviously, because that's not what its made for.

I'm not sure about EDCing this knife. Its a bit too long for my pockets (!) and the clip isn't very useful on a knife this long. Plus I have this vague indication of a feeling that this knife isn't completely 100% legal to carry in my area due to its size and scary factor.

A few years ago I wrote Cold Steel suggesting a SMALLER version of the zytel ti-lite, with a 2.5 or 3" blade. Never heard back from them...

A few more comments:
1. Knifeclerk- The handle is big enough for 2 hands because it has to hold the 6" blade :D I'd rather have a smaller version of the original, but I suspect this knife was made for the same reason as the other CS megafolders- its their company and they can produce whatever they want.

2. Yes you can "wave" this knife like its smaller relation. It makes a loud noise and will scare to death every sheeple in a 50m radius, so not in public, and "don't drop this on your foot".

i looked at a 6" tilite at the gunshow last wkend, the blade looked plenty thick for most stuff to me, not legal in TX though so i dont want one,but must say it looked pretty good for the $$ though.
