Heya Becker Peoples,

I'm baaaaa-aaaaack... Hehe..

My wife and I went on an anniversary vacation, and in part of that I got to go to the Knifeworks. (No, I didn't buy anything.......everything I actually wanted was sold out! -_- Which stunk. Oh well.) I was looking at one of the new Bk-11s, and the young man behind the counter said, "Those are good knives, I used mine all the time. Mostly the back-end, though, the capper." I looked up at him, grinned my evil grin, and said, "Oh really? Oh, well, I've only gotten through three or four years autumns and winters using mine to split wood with. I also use it to pick fruit from my trees, by tethering it to a pole and creating what I call the "Grabble". I've also broken down and sliced up countless piles of meat, fruit, and vegetables. Not to mention dug up tubers, split kindling, made feather sticks, started hundreds of fires... I also convexed the edge, and squared the spine.." Hehe.. After all that, he said, "Oh well, I might look into getting another 11." I simply smiled. Nice folks over there, fun to talk with. Dressed as I was, I guess I wasn't quite as uptight as I was expected to be. :-)

Overall, I saw some nice Beckers in that case. Saw some Kabars I hadn't realized existed. Weird. I will say, though, that it was awful crappy going over there and not getting to buy a Bk-16 da**it! :-) Ah well. It was one of the best vacactions I've ever had. Hated to have to come home. Also wanted an Ontario Kukri,
which was also sold out...ARGH! Ah well. You win some, you lose some. Atleast I'm getting my garden going...finally!! My old Bk-16 was a fine knife, and I hope it serves it's new owner well.

Oh, before I go, I will say...as an experienced Woodsman, it was nice sharing some time and skills with someone younger, giving a little bit of insight. Also, it was fun seeing someone's eyes light up when I mentioned using the knife as a "Grabble" to hook apples and pears from trees. :-)

*I'm not so sure about the new coating...seems like it could cause alot of drag. The new sheath seemed better though, it seemed to hold the knife tightly, and it did not seem to rattle. :-)

I like the new coating, actually, but if I plan on using the blade for slicing, it's going to get stripped. For general stuff I do (box cutting, cable / strap cutting), the coating is fine. Although, the San Mai 11 is on my wishlist, I plan on getting one of the new ones pretty soon.
