I went to a gun show and only one vendor had rat knives. I wanted to see the rc-4 in person but it was the only one he didn't have. I have an izula on the way and want to compliment it with a rc3 or 4. The 3 was really nice and comfortable but I think the 4 would go better with the izula.(the rc6 is n my future as well)

Oh and the rc-5 is a BEAST!

Congrats!!! You'll love the Izula, it's one of my favorite RAT knives. You're right, it would go well with the RC-4.

cant go wrong with a 4 they are fantastic

I however will be pairing my Izula with a 10 :)

Thanks everyone! I've ordered a few different colors of paracord to try also along with a rat firesteel

WOW you actually found RATS at a gun show ? I've never been able to find any at the local shows. Welcome to forum

Same here, I go to my local one just about every time it's here, and only ONCE have I seen a vendor selling RAT's....and that time he only had RC3's. They are very rare at the shows around here for some reason.

There were only 3 places with a decent selection of quality knives but most were folders. He had an rc-6, an rc-5 with serrations, rc-3 and a black Izula, but he sold the rc-4 the day before.

Ahhhh but the beast is such a beauty.

I'm suprised there's no one selling rats at your shows. Whenever theres a show in my area there are always a couple of people selling RATS. One vendor is chestnutridgeknifeshop.com and he always has a good selection with him. That's where I bought my first RAT. It was the RC4. The following year I bought my Izulu from him. Good to deal with.

I used to live right near philly. There were some good gunshows around there but I wasn't really into knives yet so I didn't notice if they had any. The gun and knife store i frequent here in FL doesn't have any RATs. They really don't have a lot of fixed blades at all... mostly folders.

Same issue in this part of VA, not really many knife nuts around here, so we don't get but two different groups come around for shows, the C&E Gun Show being the better of the two. Most of what you see is more "mainstream" stuff like Kershaw, Buck, Camillus, ect. Not to mention all the crappy Chinese knockoff junk.

after reading about the RAT knives here & elsewhere for the last year, I finally found a shop yesterday that had a couple in stock & would allow me a brief fondle.
They only had the RC-3 & RC-4, unfortunately.
The RC-4 seems to me to be a bit lacking in handle for the size of the blade.
Although the handle seems the same, I loved the RC-3.
Feels like the shorter & thinner blade balances the handle better.
Of course that's just fondling it in the shop...
Might have to buy one. Had there been one with orange handle, I probably would have on the spot.

I wish I could handle the orange handled versions. I'm curious how grippy they are.

Just a question: how do you guys know of gun and knife shows in your area? I could call the local activitiy center, but thats just in my town. Is there a syndicate that has visibility of all the shows with dates/locations?

In south Florida a place called suncoast organizes them they usually have billboards up too
