Wow Wow Wow!!!
I went to Plaza Cutlery today as they have advertised on their website a prototype for sale for $1,600.
I checked it out and I was very impressed. The blade is a bit longer than the large Sebenza but is noticably thicker. With a little practice I was able to open and close it with my right hand. For those who don't know I'm a southpaw. Surprisingly I had a very hard time openning it with my left hand which I didn't suspect due to the fact that it has dual thumblugs. When closed it is very similar to the large seb in length and width. In my right front pocket it felt the same size as the large and maybe a little thinner than the Micarta one that I usually carry. The clip is the same as the other Sebbies. The glass breaker is very subtle and I wouldn't have even noticed it if everyone around here hadn't made such a big deal about it. IMO not a real deal maker/breaker. Two things that I thought were really cool is that the knife can be totally taken apart without untying the lanyard and the tip is sharpened on both sides. I assume that there is a bushing like the other Sebs, the girl at the counter didn't know and Dan, Pam and Russ were off for the day. The thumb ramp serrations are more aggressive and the checkering makes for a very secure grip. It felt very good in my hand. The only concern that I would have is that the checkering could wear on the pocket with repeated taking it out of the pocket but it's not a real big concern and certainly not enough to keep me from buying one and using it. After handling it I have no doubt at all that I will be very pleased with this knife. Excel I hope you don't like yours because I would not mind buying a second one to keep in new condition.
CRK has built its reputation by making well thought out quality products and the new folder is no exception.
