Well, they're not really new, new to me. I'm still in the dark ages, I don't have cable, let alone HBO. Maybe heavy body odor after a hard days work  . Anyway, I rented the first dvd of The Wire, Deadwood and Family Business. FB was terrible, I could've just gone to the back of my local video rental store for the same thing. Deadwood wasn't great, but I liked it. It didn't have any pep, no drive. It looked promising though. The Wire felt like something was going to happen, but it never did.

I also just rented the first two discs of Sopranos season 6, it's entertaining, but feels like an old car chugging along. I was going to finally hunker down and rent the Shield on dvd, but didn't feel like it.

About a month ago, I bought the first color season of Dragnet (1967), and a collection of black & white episodes from the 50s on DVD. I grew up watching re-runs on Nick at Nite, and have always loved that show. So when I saw it, I had to buy it. Now I wish they'd release Adam-12 and Emergency! on DVD.

I've yet to get any of the Simpsons seasons, I should... and Futurama too. Maybe someday.

Deadwood is simply fantastic. Probably the most intelligently written fictional series I have ever seen. And Al Swearengen is one of the most remarkable fictional characters ever written!

As far as The Sopranos is concerned, I think you mean Season 5, not Season 6.

Deadwood is great!

Adam-12 and Emergency! are coming on DVD at the end of August.

I'm just a little behind the times but recently Deadwood has started being shown on our local cable station . It is basically an adult soap opera set in the 1870's South Dakota. Good character development , intelligent script and the actors all do a good job. Not for kids or the faint hearted . :D

I never got more than a few minutes into Deadwood . What's wrong with these moviemakers ,one word repeated again and again. Why the fixation ?

Yeah, Deadwood did have a bit of a mouth problem. Nasty, really. I saw the one when the fat idiot was getting a "Monica" and was shot dead (the guy, not the girl).

I saw what possibly might be worth watching (story?), but the swearing seemed too gratuitious, not to mention the other stuff.

I have no cable either, just watch DVDs.

I started watching a Canadian series called Trailer Park Boys. Based on the reviews and my sense of humor, I thought I would like it. But it was annoying as hell, couldn't finish watching the first few shows.

If you haven't seen the original British version of The Office, check that out, it's very good. I guess there is an American version now, but I'm not interested in seeing it.

I also watched the first season of Lost. After I realized that it was a sci-fi show and not supposed to be realistic, I stopped getting ticked off at the idiot characters and enjoyed it pretty well.

The documentary Commanding Heights: The Battle for the World Economy was pretty well-done also. Just don't watch it if you're sleepy or wanting to see something action-packed...

That's about all I can think of recently.

Sopranos Season 6 is on DVD now? Great! I'm in the middle of re-watching Season 4 right now (going through all of them). Season 4 wasn't my favorite (too much soap-opera-ish drivel). Season 5 was great though. I only ever saw the first episode of Season 6.

I just finished the first season of Weeds and I thought it was great. Give it a try.

We have all the seasons of "Strangers with Candy" on DVD. In case you missed it, it was a pretty edgy comedy on Comedy Central for a few years. Not for the easily offended. I find it hilarious!

Now if only they would release ALL of Chris Elliot's "Get A Life" - I'd buy that one in a heartbeat.

The Sopranos is my favorite HBO series, and Deadwood is my 2nd favorite HBO series. I wish their new seasons would hurry up and get here!...

Rent or buy Battlestar Galactica if you want to see one of the best written series on television, even if you don't like Sci Fi stuff it's great.

I liked Deadwood at 1st but it seemed to get repetitive quickly to me.

I want to know when they are going to put out the Six Million Dollar Man on DVD!, I would love to see the old Bigfoot episodes again, loved that series when I was growing up.
