At the moment I want to get a light for my USP and what make or model would you guys suggest?

surefire x300 for pistol
surefire scout 600 for carbine
surefire integrated handguard for shotgun

Surefire's X300 is a fantastic piece of kit, but if it's a little rich for you (as it was for me, sadly), a StreamLight TRL-1 LED will work wonderfully. I love mine, and so far have no complaints. I'll admit to wanting an X300 still, though. ;)

For the USP you are kinda limited. I had my whole love affair with HKs a while back. They make adaptors for the rail... but this means your USP will no longer fit in most holsters anymore unless you use like a cordura one or something. Plus it positions the light lower and can make it awkward to use. So in order to get one made for the weapon you have to use the M2 UTL by Insight.

But they do make an LED upgrade for the M2 so that's at least something... http://www.copquest.com/75-4200.htm

Just curious why you need 300 lumens. For a weapon light, at least on a short-range firearm like a handgun, I (personally) think that's a bit much. Keep in mind that if you turn a 300 lumen light on when it's pointed at a white or light-colored object, you'll get a good bit of back glare. Going from darkness to 300 lumens will likely have a negative effect on your own vision, almost as much as on your target's. If you're using this as a defensive firearm, consider something with half that amount. It'll be PLENTY enough to cause temporary blindness, while still allowing you excellent lighting. Without knowing your final intended use, this statement could be totally off the mark and useless to you, but just thought I'd throw it out there. ;)
