Hello everyone!
Today my Buck collection has grown from 2 to 4. I received today Buck 484 Bucklite Max small and Buck 425 MiniLock back.
Here's my thought. Buck is great company but what exactly can you expect from 2 knives, cost together less than my Buck 55 did?
First the 425 minilock back:
Its feather weighter. You barely can feel it on your hand. When opened, opening was smooth. Bit later bladeplay but what do you expect from $9 Knife? Bit grazy glue on tang, when it was dried and I opened knife again, no blade play.
425 came very sharp out of box around 2" blade is adequate for nearly every cutting job urban dweller might encounter. Handles are very solid. No squaking, rubbing or hotspots. I'm quite impressed. Very nice, very solid feeling $9 mini folder.
484 Bucklite Max small
With Sub 3" blade is smallest Bucklite knives. Still filled my hand very well. One hand thumbstud opening. I have to admit, my speciment has so tight opening that its torture to use thumb opening it. I am sure it will get bit loosen up when used
When open, there no blade play of anykind. No vertical, no lateral. Rock solid piece. handle is well shaped and feels comfy. Pocket clip portrudes bit buts nothing that bending with plier cannot fix. Pocket clip is fixed on its place with rivet right hand tip up carry. No problem for me, but some it might be.
Fit was very good and finish good too. On right side of my blade was coarse but nothing 2000 grit sand paper did not fixed. 484 is lighter than my Buck 55. Its even lighter than my Victorinox alox Solo. Makes it excellent for EDC carry.
Somehow I think 484 should have been used nail nick and not thumb studs. I prefer opend 484 with two handed as thumbstuds don't work well yet. That is just minor grievance.
Here's my Buck collection so far:
Small but there it begins. And for those who wonder where's 110: Its on its way.
I think I'll place Buck 425 on my keyring.
