Hello everyone!

Today my Buck collection has grown from 2 to 4. I received today Buck 484 Bucklite Max small and Buck 425 MiniLock back.

Here's my thought. Buck is great company but what exactly can you expect from 2 knives, cost together less than my Buck 55 did?

First the 425 minilock back:
Its feather weighter. You barely can feel it on your hand. When opened, opening was smooth. Bit later bladeplay but what do you expect from $9 Knife? Bit grazy glue on tang, when it was dried and I opened knife again, no blade play.

425 came very sharp out of box around 2" blade is adequate for nearly every cutting job urban dweller might encounter. Handles are very solid. No squaking, rubbing or hotspots. I'm quite impressed. Very nice, very solid feeling $9 mini folder.

484 Bucklite Max small

With Sub 3" blade is smallest Bucklite knives. Still filled my hand very well. One hand thumbstud opening. I have to admit, my speciment has so tight opening that its torture to use thumb opening it. I am sure it will get bit loosen up when used

When open, there no blade play of anykind. No vertical, no lateral. Rock solid piece. handle is well shaped and feels comfy. Pocket clip portrudes bit buts nothing that bending with plier cannot fix. Pocket clip is fixed on its place with rivet right hand tip up carry. No problem for me, but some it might be.

Fit was very good and finish good too. On right side of my blade was coarse but nothing 2000 grit sand paper did not fixed. 484 is lighter than my Buck 55. Its even lighter than my Victorinox alox Solo. Makes it excellent for EDC carry.

Somehow I think 484 should have been used nail nick and not thumb studs. I prefer opend 484 with two handed as thumbstuds don't work well yet. That is just minor grievance.

Here's my Buck collection so far:

Small but there it begins. And for those who wonder where's 110: Its on its way.

I think I'll place Buck 425 on my keyring.

Nice comments of your new knife.
I've also noted in the past that the Max would seem to be more suited to a nail nick.
How do you like your Vantage Pro?

Vantage Pro is one of my favourites. Its my main house utility knife. I do rope cutting, plastic wrap opening, trimming plants, sometimes prepping food and everything small I need cutting shaping etc inside the house done, I do with it. Somehow I seem to open my Vantage using hole and not flipper. I guess I am so used spydie hole...

Vanatage Pro is bit too big IMHO for my urban EDC carry but its blade length does make it excellent utility knife. Prior my Zero Tolerance 0500 MUDD, Vantage Pro was also my choice of back up blade in the woods.

Yes the Vantage is a favorite pattern of mine as well. I've been indulging myself with some framelocks of late but my Vantage Avid stays in my pocket. I have the Pro too but I like the scales and steel on the Avid a lot too.

I had one and felt the same way about it being too big for an EDC. I promised it to someone in a face to face deal. When the time came to give it up and as I was handing it over, I realized I made a mistake. So I promptly went out and got another. It sits low in a back pocket and the flipper makes it a super quick opener. It's a great knife!

Hey jampa,

Nice start. Thats how it begins. I had a 500 and a 110 since my 20's and was
content. Then a buddy called up from the south while snowbirding from the winter. He knew I loved my Bucks and asked what I knew about a 116-nothing I told him. He had one at a table next to him at the fleamarket and got it for me. I looked it up and found this forum to check on it. It peaked my interest and well before he brought the 116 back north I hit the bay. The 1st knife I got was a 425 for $2.25. That was December 2008 and now.............

Good luck with medicating your fever:D

Thank you everyone. I am planning to get another 55 later, get 500-series knives too. Buck ecolite 110, regular 112 + finger grooved and finger grooved 110. This is my plan for Buck knives in next couple of years. I probably get more, like 110's with different scales or blade steel if I can find 'em.

I like the feeling of Buck knives.

No infection I've had so far has been so... pleasurable. Sure during high fever (over 100 fahrenheit) I've been hallucinating but never I've enjoyed infection this much :D

Ima, Nice photo of knives . Didn't we run you two old 110's (the two pin w/ stainless rocker and brass rocker) and your 116 thru the mill ? Thanks for the photos . DM

DM,
The brass rocker certainly has been through the mill, the other has been mentioned and shown before-the 116 not too much, although it was my very 1st post.
