Hulloo Gang, long time no....type back and forth with.

Anyhoo,Ten year old is into Pokemon cards. I didn't think the fad would last past about Y2K, but apparently battles continue on playgrounds the nation over.

Can't find any at the local 7-11 store or the toy section of the dept. store neither.

Where do you look to find a rack of these things? Any help be much appreciated.

Buenos Cuchillos, amigos.

Vel

comic book and hobby stores like hobbytown USA would be your best bet, or sit on ebay and find someone's collection that they put 2,000 dollars into for 10 bucks.

Gamestop, eh? Figured it for XBox and the like, but I'll check that out, Zack.

Never heard of Hobbytown USA. Have to Google that one.

eGay..... really? I'll dash over there and check it out, Ruck. I guess if they sell bottlecaps they'll dump anything.

Keep suggestions comin', I'm on the hunt.

I used to be into Magic cards, and almost every place that sold Magic cards also sold Pokemon cards. So, here are some places you can check that haven't been listed:

- Craigslist

- Toys R US and other Toy stores

- comic book stores

- stores that exclusively sell collectible card games

- toy section of supermarkets, or even vending machines in some supermarkets

If your son just wants a large quantity of "common" Pokemon cards, you can buy them cheaply on ebay or craigslist. If your son wants a few specific, expensive cards ("rares"), then ebay would be the way to go.

I think I have thrown away about 3 decks of those things, between death by washing machine, I hated that, big mess. Under or in the couch cushions, in the car or truck, and left outside for the weather to cause breakdown. I wish you the best in your quest, I would say ebay. I am sure you can find em cheap. Oh yeah, Saturday morning garage selling too.

I didn't think the fad would last either, but my 12 year old son has close to 3,500 Pokemon cards, plus the books, the movies and all of the stuffed Pokemon critters....

Every once in awhile we would stumble on to someones collection, while looking around at garage sales.

My best friends son has the same affliction :)
He lives at a local store called "Vintage Stock" I don't think they are nation wide, but I could be wrong.
You should try to find stores that sell vintage video games and the like.
The "comic book stores" is a great suggestion!!!
Good luck!

Hobbytown's a national chain of stores that caters to the remote control, model building and RPG/card game crowds. I was in there the other day getting some acrylic paints for some accents on some tomahawks I'm building and I know for a fact they have a crapload of Poke stuff.

try trollandtoad.com they have em for a decent price does he play the game or just colect them they have single cards and packs there

LMAO! Let me tell you folks, I'd have not thought that there were so many outlets for such a thing.

Aaxtell and Polynikes, WallyWorld is a hike from here, but we make the trek now and then. You're prolly right... anything cheezy is found in numbers there. Thanks.

Caffeinepirate: "Specific", "Rare", and "Expensive" weren't adjectives I was expecting to hear in the same sentence as "Pokemon"... but that's another eBay reference, so here we go.

338375 (couple o' beautiful calibers, BTW): 3500 Cards !?! Movies, books, stuffed game ?!? We ain't going that far on this. But thanks for the warning.

CJ65 (fine vehicle)... this is the fear that I have with acquiring more than about a dozen of these things..... they'll be new "pavement" atop my hardwood flooring, they'll plug my A/C ducts, and I'll have to scoop them out of my gutters each fall.

You fellas with suggestions of comic book and book stores, I can only ask you guys this.... Have our literary haunts stooped so low that they need to offer faddish fare of this ilk? Do you share my pain?

Payette, I feel that the tomahawk is a fairer hobby than the Porkemon thing. Think I'll foist that on the boy instead.

I'm on my way to eGay and Craig's List to see what nightmare arrives.

Oh, and let me add this.

A member named Facebacon telling me to go to TrollandToad.com.... LMAO! Far cry from my childhood vision of my fellow astronauts telling me to go to the moon.

Thanks for the advice, Bacon. That's a site I would have never stumbled upon.... even on StumbleUpon.com !!
