Gotta get a Para 2

I know this subject has been done to death but it seems the Spyderco Para military 2 has a following nearly as fanatical as the Sebenza. I still haven't pulled the trigger on a Sebenza(yet) but paid my deposit on a sprint run Para. Think I'll have to buy a standard Para in the mean time for a EDC. I doubt I'll be disappointed considering all the positive reviews it recieves on these forums,(which I regard highly). I don't have access to a brick and mortar store so can never handle before I buy. I own at least a dozen Spyderco and none of them are duds.

Yea, you really do need to own one. It is that good. To be honest, if I only could have one knife, the Para 2 would be it. It's light weight lets it carry better than most other knives it's size.

Call me crazy, but I have always thought the blade/handle ratio on the Para2 is not so good.
From all the pictures I have seen, the handle looks a lot longer than it needs to be to house the blade.
And if they have some reason for having that handle that long, why do they make the blade shorter than necessary for that handle length?

And, does anybody care about that, besides me?

The handle is extremely comfortable and the blade is of perfect length, I'd say it's perfect!

I really want one of those M390 ones..

I thought the same. In fact, I hated how the Spyderco looked. It wasn't till I handled one till I realized there is more good grips on this knife than any other. Its really amazing how useful the design of this knife is. It is a outstanding cutting tool. The point on this knife is sooo sharp, it is a great splinter removal tool. I field dressed a deer this year with it just to see how it did. The handle design was outstanding in this task but it's still thin enough for comfort carry.

I have the Grey Para2 with 20CP blade. I carry it EDC over my Manix2 M4, Caly3 VG10, and fancy BM rosewood 690 in CM154.
I am VERY easy on a knife as I always carry one, but my cutting tasks are easy and seldom needed. Yesterday, however, I finally got to cut some cardboard, wrapping tape and stuff, as I had to return several porch swingsets to a local store. The knife worked great, as I knew it would. Yes, the Para2 for me.

Boy I sure do like that "BLUE" but that Black Blade would have to go.! (I am still going to have to get one though.)

It really is a great knife. I thought it was " over hyped ", and a " hype beast ". Which it is. But it truly lives up to all the hype in my opinion. Mine is so smooth and it locks up like a vault.

I keep feeling bad for reading the "what knife are you carrying right now" thread and looking down at several very nice folders that are all taking a back-seat to one of the Para-2s.

It's not fair to the others... it's not...

I always thought so too, but have finally given in and ordered one to see if I'll agree. I've been EDCing a MiniGrip for a lot of years now and one of the things I have always liked about it is the blade/handle ratio. Just too many people liking it too much for me not to check it out. I wish I already knew, because I'd love to get it in M390, but I'll have to love it a lot to spend that much on one.

Of course, I finally gave in and got an Endura for the same reason and hated it - just doesn't feel right in my hand no matter what I do. Same for my Gayle Bradley, which is a shame because it cuts so well.

I think it was just the lighting on that one that makes it look black, the Blue M390 comes in a satin blade.

I'm another who hesitated over the Para2 and eventually got one a week or so ago and instantly understood what all the hype is about. Fantastic knife for EDC.

Out of interest Thrustus, where did you find a sprint run that would ship to Australia? I'd sort of despaired of ever getting anything other than the standard issue versions.
