My favorite edc is a mini-grip; however over the past three years I've managed to loose two of them. About a year ago I ordered one of the NRA Benchmades. I got it for about $20.00 on ebay. I think the blade was 440c. I started carrying it as an edc in place of my current mini-grip. And. . . yes, I lost it. It was missing for about four months. Last week the guy mowing my lawn found it in the back yard. It had been lost in the grass all this time, open to the rain and weather.
What surprised me what how good of shape it was in -- there were ony a few spots of rust on the blade, and the edge was still sharp. A little oil and steel wool, and the blade was almost as good as new.
I've always sorta liked 440c, but I was impressed by how little rust there was on the blade, expecially on an inexpensive knife.
