IMG_1944.JPG IMG_1945.JPG now that I've been able to put some use behind this blade (have been cleaning/demoing some properties after Florence) I have found that it is in my opinion outshining infi for every day use, holds an edge, it is amazingly easy to touch edge up to return to shaving sharp, in fact overall this makers heat treat creates a true use blade that seems to be the best I've run across (one mans humble opinion)

Sir you have failed to maintain your knife properly
Send it to me and I will dispose of it in an appropriate fashion

I came to the same conclusion 3 years ago:thumbsup::)

I don't know how it's possible for D3V to take the use and abuse that it does and still be so easy to maintain. Nathan is dialed in on this steel.
I’m gonna chalk it up to perfect edge geometry by Carothers and the best Heat treat for that steel. Those guys at PHT work round the clock making sure our knives are As good as that steel can be. I’ve seen it first hand and was amazed at how many hours are put into it. Amazing stuff heat will do applied right will do.

Agree  I remember not long ago Nathan was still treating it in-house and working with Peters for them to get the process perfected at their facility. Given the well-deserved growth CPK has seen, I think it's very good for us that a major player such as PHT is cranking out blades en masse!

I very much compare the D3V in my EDC2 to the harder INFI (61-62 HRC) found in the Boney Active Duty (BAD). I've yet to have any real edge damage on either, and both hold an edge forever, but sharpen back up SO easily when needed! I've yet to really sharpen either with any kind of abrasive media, as they've both responded very well to stropping (granted, with a powered strop).
