Yep, gotta love 'em. Not only is it the day before Fiddleback Friday, it's the day Andy goes to the Post Office to ship the orders from the week before :)

I wonder what tomorrow will bring?

Oh come on, am I the only one excited this week? I have been waiting on the camp knife that's being mailed off today for a couple of years now, that's a LOT of anticipation!!

Not as much as Fridays.

Big Mike

Eeeyeah, Fridays aren't as special to me as they are for most people I suppose. They do not end my work week, and seldom do I get paid on Friday. I don't to the bar scene, and I prefer to take my wife out to dinner during the week to avoid the masses of sheep. So, a day when a knife I have been waiting years for gets mailed off is about as close to special as a particular day of the week can get for me :)

I can never get the hang of thursdays. Though I did get a message that my ladyfinger I picked up in last weeks FF shipped. I'm hoping for a terrasaur, recluse, or an arete with a nice scandi grind and some stabilized burl scales this week. something thicker than the 5/32 also. Boy that fiddleback fighter on the forge website is a work of art isn't it? i'd put that thing under glass

I'm trying to avoid the waiting threads posted before friday, it makes me feel like less of an addict ;)

Thursday was a good day for me too

My Kephart finally arrived:)

It got put straight to work re-handling some tools so that they'd fit in my new work truck as I didn't have a draw knife handy

I'm so impressed with this knife! The 1/8 stock coupled with a tapered tang make it really nimble and well balanced yet it still feels reassuringly solid.

It's a slim knife, especially compared with my Bushfinger but there is still enough to make it comfortable in the hammer grip. I've played with a few feather sticks which will usually reveal if a handle is uncomfortable. No problems. I imagine a 1/8 tapering tang with the Bushfinger for example would perhaps not work so well. My reasoning behind this is that the Bushfinger's handle is less deep where your index and last two fingers lie.

I was a little nervous to see how Andy would grind the 1/8 stock, I needn't have been. Nice fine and even thickness edge bevel which I have convexed to my tastes but kept the edge angle Andy set.

Top it all off with some understated beauty and I'm a happy chap:D

Thanks Andy and team for a grand knife!

So, you got the other camp knife. Congrats!

Yes, Thursday are cool!

Love Thursday. Friday is great, but too intimidating when you know you can't buy, but think you might anyways...lol. Thursday is all about anticipation. I am hoping for woods and bolsters, and something awesome out of the blue ( like last week's Sneaky Pete).

I think on fridays there should be a contest, like this:

Everybody may guess one knife that he thinks will be in the upcoming batch. Of course, it will not be enough to say "bushfinger“. You need to give all the details: Grind, all handle materials used and the order in which they are used, thickness, tapered or no, kind of pins/bolsters used etc.

If you get it 100% right, you will get 10% (right, Andy? :D ) off the knife and first chance to buy it!

Its is FRIDAY!!... Just saying is all.

Avoidspam- 1/8" convex Kephart is what I am hoping for as well.
Which model saw is that? I run a little 435 and a 562XP.

Yes, the Fighter is something else, as is the new Sneaky Pete. I don't have a need for either, but would love to have both :)

How's that working for you? :D

Man, that 1/8 convexed and tapered like that looks awesome! Definitely wanting to give something with those specs a go at some point.

Yep, the other Camp Knife :)

Hey, that could be interesting!

Yep, so the knife should be one day closer in the 1.5 hour road trip from Atlanta :)

It is a lovely combination Mistwalker, very tempting......;)

Imalterna - I think it's a 350XP, it's not my saw so not 100% Lot's of felling work by us at the moment before nesting season!

Mist,
Gotta ove the USPS routing, but they are relatively cheap.

Maw,
That is a nice one! If I do not score soemthing in todays lot, I may have to pull the trigger on that one. Last week a gentleman offered me a beautiful 1/8" Recluse that I am still torn about but I set out for a Kehart so I am trying to stay focused ;)

Avoidspam,
We did not get the 350XP here. 550XP Autotune. I quit cutting a couple of years ago and sold all my pro saws but won the 562XP in a donation/raffle so I am really excited to give it some work. So far nothing has come up big enough for it though. Just downed limbs and lot clearing saplings- the 435 excels at anything up to 5" across so it gets most of the work. For cheap money, it is an amazing little homeowner saw!
Stay covered and stay safe :) I forgot to look up for dead limbs once and got knocked off my feet and my hhat drive down over my eyes by a falling dead limb from a tree I was dropping....tired, rushed and lucky.

Lucky chap! I always have my helmet on:)

Fingers crossed you get what you're after.

Ah, Friday. What financial hell will you unleash on me today? Maple handles? Nice spalting? Sweet grinds? Bolsters? Sweet, sweet hell.
