Had bought the little lady a Hideaway Knife, utility style, stonewashed 440 steel. Not for self-defense (although she would, if God forbid necessary), but for her to have a useful tool at the ready. My wife is completely baffled by folders, can't operate any kind of locking blade, is all thumbs at opening a simple slip joint or backspring knife. They're nothing more than paper weights to her. But she travels with our 2 little ones, in their car seats, and in case of an emergency she might need to cut them loose or free herself from a jammed seatbelt. So I got her the HAK and she kept it on her keychain, as I do.
Tonight she informed me that she lost the knife.
The sheath is firmly attached to her keychain, but the knife (custom fitted for her hand, hand sharpened by yours truly) wasn't there when she got home from "shopping". :grumpy:
I am not spending that kind of money for her to lose another thing I've given her. She almost lost her engagement ring months after I gave it to her, no joke. But I want her to have a small fixed blade that she can keep on her keychain (otherwise she'll just leave it home) that is utilitarian and not going to attract scrutiny from LEO's and sheeple.
I need some suggestions here. You folks are pretty good at this, and I'm usually amazed at the wide range of suggestions that you all put forth. Let's keep this under $75 please
, and no tacticool or greater than 2 inch blades. Thanks.
