Well, here is my first post on BladeForums. I've always spent lots of time in the outdoors; hunting, canoe tripping, hiking etc. but until recently I never really concerned myself with the knife I carried. Not too long ago I had what I'll call an 'awakening' - I need to do myself a favour and get some good knives. Before ordering anything I set aside some funds and told myself I could get 4 solid knives (to start) that would adequately covered the spectrum of my knife needs. Long story short- of all the knives out there 3 out of the four categories were filled by RAT designs and the fourth knife will be a EDC folder so I'll have to go elsewhere. The first an RTAK2 followed by an ESEE 4 and then the Izula. Bottom line I love the product and the mission behind it - hence why I chose to post here first......anyways look forward to learning/sharing alot on the site. Cheers!

Welcome and grats on the great blades you got. I love my izula. It goes everywhere with me.

Welcome, I think you'll like the brotherhood (and sisterhood) on this forum, many like minded folks here who are more than willing to give advice and share their knowledge.

Welcome to the insanity! We have similar strategies - I went with Junglas, RC6 and RC3 for my three amigos.

welcome to the forums - what size/style EDC folder are you looking for and at what price range?

Well, I had been leaning towards an assisted opener with a 3-4" blade, non-serrated. I want something solid so I don't mind paying for quality...$200 would be absolute max. I had been looking at a few designs from Benchmade and Kershaw but I would be open to suggestions if you had some.

I looked at Spydies and a couple of Benchmades for an EDC folder and ended up trying a Kershaw Leek. I love this knife. No batoning or prying doors open, but it's been a great knife. I don't plan on changing it any time soon. Maybe when the Izula folder comes out. :D

+1 on Kershaw for an A/O in the 3-4" range. Another to look at is the CRKT M4.
Either company has offerings well under the $100 mark.
Another company to look at is benchmade - buddy of mine has had one of theirs for close to 10 years and is very happy with it.
