Gov tac desert daggert construction

I own both a gov tac and daggert 1 and I like them both. My gov tac is o e of my favorites because the Handle is so comfortable. However I am concerned about he construction. Are they truly full tang blades or are they rat tail tangs. What exactly is the screw for in the handle of the blades. I consider the gov tac my shtf blade for urban environments but don't want to rely on it if its strength is reliant on wether or not a screw is going to work itself loose or break.
 
The tang goes all the way through the handle and into the butt cap. The screw at the end of the handle keeps the Butt cap fixed to the tang. As to how wide the tang is, I have no clue. It could be a full length rat tale tang, or it could be a lot wider. Someone at SOG can probably answer that one.

it is a full length rat tail type tang and Heber described the construction perfectly.
