Well... it looks like I may have to part with my meager knife collection to pay the mortgage if this happens. :grumpy:

Furlough is the buzz word for today. I wonder if I tell the credit companies that I need a furlough month if that will fly

Hopefully I don't have to sell my knives. It has taken me a long time to get the little that I have.

Idk how much i would worry. The news always blows everything out of proportion.

I'm in the same boat, although I have no knives worth more thant $20! I'll be selling plasma/blood/whatever!

The furlough from July to Aug cost me a trip to Italy. Wondering what this next scenario may cost me.

Are you a government employee? Can you explain how it will effect government employees if the government is "shutdown"?

Government offices will close. Government employees will be instructed to not show up at work. Government employees will not get paid.

Of course, those causing this still get full pay.

Its basically what they did to us as kids when we worked at mcdonalds and burger king. One day you walk in and they say sorry but we dont got a job for you anymore we cant afford you. Except on a much more twisted screwed up level.

If the govt shuts down, who will violate my rights, spy on me and commit mass murder abroad?

Its not the government shutting down. Its the government shutting down government run federal facilities and jobs.

In before the move, but I do have to say, as a gov't employee, we've definitely gotten the fuzzy end of the lolipop this year, and in recent years.

Luckily, I've not had to sell off knives, yet. I did have to dig into my retirement, and take a hit on that.

Don't worry. That part won't be defunded and soldiers will continue to get orders even if their family doesn't get a paycheck.

Those of us in non-exempt status just don't come to work and don't get paid. Those of us in exempt status come to work, but don't get paid. Non-exempt=admin work. Exempt= Mission critical, police officer, fire fighters etc.

While the shutdown is important, it most likely won't be avoided. The bigger issue is the debt ceiling. If we don't raise it you will have to sell more than your knives

Everybody use to say that the government jobs were the most secure, now I think they were wrong
