I know there's been many threads on this, a friend needs one, he has no computer so it needs to be stand alone and the user interface needs to be very easy and price low if possible.

Any specific suggestions?

Also comments on picking one up second hand, like from ebay?

Thanks,
DAve

Hi Dave,

My next door neighbor is wildly happy with her Garmin Nuvi 350, both for reliability of navigation and ease of use (she is by no means a techno-geek). I believe the 350 runs about $350-$360 mail order. There are various tiers of Nuvis to fit the budget.

The Nuvi doesn't allow for a user-replaceable battery (a lot of the stand-alones don't seem to), so I'm looking for something different. But your friend might want to check out this line...

I have been using the Nuvi 350 as well, for a little over two years now. It is on every day I work out of a field service truck. It has NEVER let me down. As long as go with Garmin you cant go wrong, they use better mapping software. You should check their web site.

I use one with my cell phone, co-pilot live, turn by turn directions, blue tooth tech with the receiver on my dash, or in my pocket. I like mine, use one for business and one for my personal cell. Easy to use and program.
