The bastards broke my car window and stole my GPS. I had a Garmin 2610. I was pretty happy with it. I plan to buy a new one (and never leave it in my car, even in a "good" neighborhood). Any suggestions on what I should buy? Thanks.

The key question is how much are ya willin' to spend?

I have an older Garmin GPS 2+ this was before downloadable maps, back when I bought it it was somewhere around $300, now you can get one with a built in map of North America for a little over $150 new, about $75 used.

Also do you plan on only using it in the car, than you want the biggest screen ya can afford.

Garmin and Magellan are two of the industry leaders when it comes to GPSs, I'd start looking on their websites to get an idea of what features are available and then check EBay to see if ya can get one used or new at a better price.

I bought a Garmin Nuvi 350 at the begining of the year.
I love this thing! Greatest Ever.
It is the top rated of the In car NAV systems on the Market.
The price has come down from the begining of the year.
Sams club has them for I think 650ish. I paid 800

Thanks for the advice. I'm open as to how much to spend. I guess the question is, what do I need, and what do I get if I spend more. I'm not interested in bluetooth. One of the things I was wondering about is the traffic reports. You have to subscribe and pay a monthly fee. Is it accurate? Is it worth the extra cost? Anyone use it?

I jst bought the Nuvi 350 also and it is simply one of the finest Units out there!!!

I bought mine NIB off Ebay for $575 about two weeks ago and have used it a few times so far. It works better than the unit my 2006 Maxima came with at two grand.

Buy one!!!

Yitz, I'm sorry that you were ripped off.

Everyone: Remember that your car is just a glass box.

Don't leave anything in your car that you wouldn't be prepared to leave in a fishtank in the street overnight.

This particularly applies to guns and knives. Don't arm criminals!
