Hiya khukuri folks,

Any of you got experience with using the GB axe sharpening stone to touch up your khuks? It seems to do a decent job on my hatchet. I believe the grits are 200/600, don't quote me on that though. I have yet to receive my WWII and beat it up enough to have to sharpen it (hopefully customs aren't molesting it :() but I figured I could use this on the khuk like I would my hatchet, as it seems hair whittling sharp isn't always desirable when chopping hardwood ;)

Many thanks
Pia

Lansky sharpeners makes a puck like that, I have been thinking about buying one for in the field touch ups. At home I use my Worksharp knife and tool sharpener. It's basically a tiny belt sander but I can't really take it camping with me.

I have a WWII that came from HI scary sharp. I was using it to trim and limb my orange tree with great success. During this process I laid the branches aross the opening of a large, heavy, plastic bin and would chop them using the edge of the can as a backstop. On one branch the blade went straight through and rolled on the edge of the can. I believe this was do to the thin edge. I hammered it straight, ran it through the worksharp, and it's been fine ever since. It however is not as sharp as it was, its more axe or hatchet sharp than shaving sharp now.

I just use the DMT serrated sharpener "ice piks" and crock sticks on all my knives.. by hand..shaving or axe sharp is no problem..dip the dmt spyke in a glass o' water n go for it!!
