So I just picked up my second traditional. A Northwoods Gunstock. The only other traditional I have is the GEC Tidioute Serpentine Jack. Any ideas on how they would compare?

This is my first northwoods so I'm not 100% sure what to expect. Also any history on this pattern? It's not one I see very frequently.

I believe this is the same very common model as produced by Queen.
I have one on bone stag and D2. Its a great knife and a classic all around.

Sometimes I feel the need to swear when I look at these knives, and I cannot get to them :D

I need to be over there

I need to go to the blade show

I want every knife that is on this forum

Is this asking too much

I have one of each. Both are nice, have a clip master and pen blade. D2 on the Northwoods and 1095 on the GEC. I prefer the GEC over the Northwoods for pocket carry, the serpentine takes up much less pocket space as the gunstock is much thicker at the ends. The f&f of the GEC is a step up. There's gaps on the liners on the Northwoods whereas the GEC is tight. Halfstops on the gunstock. I enjoy owning each, but haven't carried the NW much if at all, the GEC has been well carried. Both are excellent knives imo.

I have the Northwoods in Tortoise Shell Acrylic, unfortunately the serpentine Jack is one of the GEC Patterns I don't own.

The Gunstock is still hair shaving sharp with that D2. F&F are great. I carry mine in a leather case like that pictured. It's my Sundaymorning going to church rig.

GREAT choice!

If you asked me what my favorite knife was, I probably would not immediately say a gunstock, but for some reason that knife is probably in my pocket more than any of my many folders. I have a stag Northwoods and a Maple Queen. They're just a really comfortable sized knife, not too big, but big enough to do some work, with a perfect combination of blade sizes. Add in the D2 steel and it's one tough knife. The only fault you can find with it is that the run up on the back of the blade is exposed a bit more since that end of the gunstock is a bit narrower. I also have a few GEC's and I see no difference in the quality. F&F is pretty darn good on all of them.

You've got a great looking knife and you will not be sorry.

The Northwood is the same as the Queen.

I have two Queen Gunstocks, one in D2 and one in 1095.
What I like about the main clip blade is that it is thin and deep, so it makes for a great slicer.
As a comparision, the Cooperhead is a very similar shape but much thicker
