This is one I have to share with all dog lovers. Gracie was born Dec 26, 2008she is still under a year old. It was my gift from my wife on Valentine's Day. A chocolate lab, my favorite type of chocolate. Gracie has been shy around water (LOL). She has been to the beach, but really cautious around water. I took her to Mammoth, and she jumped into Lake Mary and took one swim chasing a duck, but not since. She is very uncomfortable about jumping in the pool, and I do not force her. So, when we went for a hike instead of a movie on Sat. (My wife is still thanking me for that suggestion), we went to a great spot in Thousand Oaks CA. At the west end of Avenida De Los Arboles, there is a trail head. There are two falls, one is Paradise, the other Rainbow falls, this is the larger of the two, but do not remember which is which. Anyways, it was a proud day for Gracie and me! Hope you enjoy the pics.

Here is my step sons Carter and Carson. My wife calls them her car collection. Carter, Carlie, and Carson.

That is my son Killian, he wants my Griptilian, you can only guess why. This area is gorgeous!

That is Killian's twin brother CJ. He is the true CJ, I am just Chris. (OK, I just spilled the beans). I had the idea to be called CJ many moons ago, but there was this tv show called LA Law, and then this chick showed up......CJ.....It pretty much was not worth it at the time. One day, one of Christopher's friends called him CJ, and I said WT......? You know what I mean. I was jealous. Anyways, it is not about me, it is about Gracie.

One more of the whole group. Kristal, my wife, is the best to put up with my knife habit. She even goes to shows with me. I am lucky.

The last rain we had pushed all of the cat tail reeds down. This shot was taken by Killian. It was a great one. I threw a tennis ball in the water a couple times, and no go, Gracie would not get it. On land she retrieves till exhausted. That huge stick that CJ had,.....for some reason, that is what Gracie wanted to retrieve. She went after it without much hesitation.

OK, my insecurities can rest now, I have proof that Gracie is in fact a water dog. Wheeewh, what a relief. Duck season is around the corner. At least I know if I shoot a small tree, she will retrieve it if it falls in water. LOL.
When the kids climbed up high on the rocks, the dog felt the need to corral them. It was funny, I am sure Bastid would like Gracie the Mountain Goat dog.:p

Daddy and his little girl. I am so proud of her.

Next, is some endurance training....It only took about 5 minutes for her to settle down in the trusty GMC Yukon (great vehicle btw) and then pass out. She was really sleeping, I could hardly keep the camera still I was laughing so hard. Thanks for looking.

That's a good looking dog, family and beard you got there :D:thumbup:

My dog was dunked real early on as a puppy. It was great watching him trying to figure out why he couldn't walk on the water
for about 10 minutes :p after that there was no stopping him. He even likes jumps off the rocks at the local river spot round here
and dives into the neighbours duck pond every chance he gets, much to the dismay of my neighbour of course :foot:

thank you for the compliments. I feel like I have a friend on the other side of the planet. That is very comforting, even in a cyber kind of way. It was a gas meeting JonnyMac last week. He really is a stand up good guy.

Magnificent creature the Choc lab. Why didn't you all go for a swim in such a great place?

Great pix. It looks like you all had a great day!! Thanks for sharing your family day with us.

There is nothing like time out with the dog. MY Shiba Inu loves to swim. He didn't always. In fact, he hated to even get wet. But, I slowly worked with him, and now you can't keep him out of the water!!! He lives to play ball!!

Thank you Thomason. The camera was down hill from the dog, which gives a nice touch. My wife edited that one nicely.

Can not decide who is the happiest here, but Gracie is showing more teeth :D.

Looks like your are gonna have to get her a pool now.
